Tesco Petrol prices in you area pls help

You seem to have a very poor grasp of price fixing, commerce and planning yet want to complain based on these three points.

Do I now?

Thanks for pointing it out. Most of you in this thread have missed the point. And are just jumping on this threads bandwagon tbh

So you think not undercutting local competition by 5p a litre is a breach of planning regulations... err how exactly?

I think I read it somewhere in the tesco poll leaflet that was handed out and posted through peoples doors within a 1 mile radius.

I will dig it out or find one

One of the key "benefits" was enjoy fuel at supermarket prices" I remember reading it.

And you think that means it formed part of the planning permission?

The only thing funnier than that is the fact you keep telling everyone else in this thread that they don't have a clue.

No the council decide that.

This was feedback from the public

When building my house...The brick had to fall into local aesthetics...The brick I chose had to be agreed by the planning office and local neighbours

Easyrider, fill up your car with petrol, not at Tesco of course, drive to the Tesco HQ in Cheshunt and deliver the letter to Mr Clarke personally, not forgetting to ask him to reimburse your fuel costs.

I was thinking the same. It seems anyone disagreeing with the OP (which is everyone) is "stupid and don't get it"

Surely not EVERYONE other than the OP is stupid? :p

I wait with baited breath (yeah right) on the result of his letter :p

Look at the bigger picture.

No they don't have to list their prices in their planning application how could they?

Sheesh

I'm not spelling it out for noobs!

You do this every time you are trying to force your view on the majority.

"I'm not spelling it out for you!"

"Surely you can see the bigger picture?"

"I'm not spoon feeding you!"

That sort of thing. I've been reading it on here for years and your approach rarely changes.

There was a pretty clever chap a few years back called Albert Einstein. One of his little phrases was:

“If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough”

So, easyrider - unless you can explain (simply, succinctly and exactly) what point you are trying to make to both us and Tesco, I'd like to suggest that you don't really entirely understand yourself.

The Store was "sold" to the public on the "benefit" of the Petrol station.

The site would never have gone ahead or been agreed upon unless the petrol

station was included. The plans were put on hold for months and months

because of this.

Now its built there is no benefit to the community.

Its no cheaper than the station up the road.

If they drop their prices by 2p then the station up the road will drop their prices by 2p. You cant really say there is no benifit as you cant say for certain what other petrol stations in the area would be charging now if it wasnt there

Fuel is becoming a joke.

UL = £1.40
D = £1.48

On average to fill up to 10 litres is about £13-£14!!

And they wonder why people are spending less, the government really need to look at the fuel taxes. it's not just families who have low income that are effected but all the haulage companies that have to spend more on fuel and make less profit.

No, you're missing the point. If you read the read the thread from start to finish you'll see the point, and see why your point has been disproved.

I'm sures price weren't mentioned in the planning permission, if they simply said 'fuel at supermarket prices' then the supermarkets around here are also expensive - the statement Tesco made wasn't specific enough to accuse them of being over-priced.

As a HQ for one of the largest supermarket chains in the country, the tesco hq in chestnut is quite embarrassing.

At least compared to sainsburys in Holborn. Its like a wooden shack compared to a mansion :)

Of course it's benefit to the community. It's a petrol station, it is there to provide petrol. It probably has a shop, which sells stuff, to the community, which is of benefit to them.

There are a bunch of small shops near me, they are pretty much all more expensive than the tesco a few hundred meters down the road or the ASDA a mile away. They are still of benefit to me, and the community when I need to get something quickly. Just because something is more expensive than something else doesn't mean it's not beneficial.
