If I wasn't stuck with an AMD biased monitor for 3D then I'd sell my 570 for a 580 oc or at least SLI my 570. The limiting factor as with most Nvidia cards is the vram which is another reason why I'd still be apprehensive unless you go for 3gb 580 but then you're in 7950/70 territory which would be silly to pass up unless you already have a 3gb 580.

Thanks for the info. $499 for a part that performs like a $650 part is pretty smashing IMO. Will definitely force AMD to drop the prices of the 7970 and 50 !

Mind you it doesn't help matters much. As all AMD will do now is release "Tenerife" and be back on top charging uber prices again.

7950 currently costs upward of $550.

7950 is (well, soon will be when Tenerife comes out) a mid ranged part.

So considering it's their launch card, and assuming it really is that fast it's a bloody bargain IMO.

You do realise that pretty much means around £350 yes? and not the £440 being asked for the 7970?
 
7970 costs only 560 greenish

in uk they make u rip off cause here i just cant write how its easy to buy from usa without even paying vat
 
Yeah I checked on A.n.other site.

The black edition twin fan was $649 on the same site at launch. The Windforce is still $600.

Either way if Kepler does cost $499 then that's a great price IMO. The 7970 currently sits at $550. Mind you, the 7970 does have 3gb vram.
 
Well no. That comes Q3 it would seem.

Still, not bad going for a mid ranged part really. I just await AMD to release the Tenerife.
 
Launch day prices will be exhorbitant. Anyone thinking otherwise is as high as a kite. But these prices should come down given some time. And when NVIDIA brings in gk110 and gk112 they should be as affordable as GTX 560Ti are today.

when you think i can get a panny 50'' plasma for 450 quid, this means a GTX 580 should be about 250 quid or even less, it should be the same price as the MOBO !!!!!

these two companies need to be careful especially Nvidia, because people wont put up with high prices for much longer....
