I was moping around when this caught my attention:

I often wonder what direction Society is taking. Society as i see it is people living together under and for the common good.

Does more drastic action need to be taken against the elements of Society who are so dysfunctional, so incapable, so parasitic and inept of all the responsibilities ... that are in turn being sponged from the tax payer?

In this instance:
A BABY was left paralysed from the waist down, deaf and unable to swallow after his dad fell asleep with him on a sofa, an inquest heard.

Dale Anderson, pictured, had dozed off holding Alfie Smith in his arms in the middle of the night.
...
Alfie's 20-year-old mother Sheree Smith – who is currently serving an 18-year prison sentence for murder following a street stabbing
...
Unemployed Mr Anderson was later arrested following Alfie's death before being released without charge.

Blood tests taken several hours after the incident revealed the presence of cannabis in Mr Anderson's body, however, it could not be determined when the drug had been taken.

The inquest continues.

Is the Government and indeed many zealous liberals for that matter, completely unawares that villains are growing among us? Having a child myself i've come to notice a lot more when it comes to parenting. To see children (~18) with toddlers running around to the Mothers calls of "get the [expletive] back"... and the views through McDonalds windows of these tiny tots being gorged on junk whilst Mums outside puffing on a fag in an argument with the latest squeeze.

Is it time we thought about Parenting classes being delivered in schools? More drastically... (a friends idea that i disagree with in general) should the coil be fitted at 13/14? Should Maternity Allowance be an Adult (18+) only benefit? Should Working Tax Credits respective of children be only paid after 19 or even 20?

Cases like the above are growing, there is a growing majority of the minority who are passing nothing on to society...

So OCUK your thoughts?

Note: If a mod would want to move this to SC feel free :)

If I had my way all kids would be slung on the Isle of wight & not allowed on the mainland until they had reached a certain kind of maturity.
The kids would be raised by people that are good with kids in a vocational way & any attempt of escape would be met with severe punishment & added years on "The Island".

My thoughts are that your capitalisation of words that don't require such treatment is unusual.

Teaching social responsibility would be more appropriate.

No.

Should Maternity Allowance be an Adult (18+) only benefit?

No - if someone starts work at 16 and decides they are ready for a family why should they be denied an allowance THEY have paid for (via thier NI contributions).

Should Working Tax Credits respective of children be only paid after 19 or even 20?

No.

Cases like the above are growing,

Wrong - teenage pregnancy is falling in the UK

there is a growing majority of the minority who are passing nothing on to society...

Again wrong. please present imperical evidence to back your statement up - I will not debate conjecture and Daily Mail stereotypes.

BTW, I'm far from a liberal :-)

:D Cheers.

It's simple & effective as the smart/savvy kids will reach the age of maturity quicker so will come over to the mainland earlier & will then have Direct access to our universities. The lessons & objectives on the island would switch to Manual/Blue collar work/jobs in the last year of any kids that are on the island beyond 14.
I'd expect the intellectual kids to be off the Island & into Uni by 12 so they wouldn't waste any time on manual/blue collar objectives.
My whole system is based on Performance, The Blue collar kids that excel will be trained to management level where as those with more manual dexterity than most will go on to be our craft men/women.
The white collar kids that excel in Uni will obviously be developed in specialist fields that suit there skills.

In my World though All people would be paid by the hour & a Set amount per hour across the board. If you want more then you just put in more hours & the hourly rate is set according to the National amount worked out at an affordable rate to the progression of our Country. :)

Why didn't you spend the time you wasted writing this pointless post researching the causes of the behaviour you so despise?.

It sounds to me like a tragic accident, but I fail to see why the father should punished any further.

Not that bad an idea really, needs some work but you could be onto something.
You should look at the following - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technocracy

How is it pointless? It has opened up debate. There are all number of causes for the behaviour, and none is anymore right than the other. Unless you care to impart your wisdom?

I actually support the concept of a Technocracy & have done for some time.

My problem is with somebody who seems to care about the situation but then goes to make incredibly ill thought out ideas such as stopping benefits for people aged under 18 (as if by some miracle children of teenage parents cost nothing to look after).

I don't understand why people hold strong views about things they clearly have not put any effort into understanding at even a basic level.

A poor education, a lack of good role models, a lack of a genuine self esteem, disparity in income equality/equality of opportunity, social mobility, poverty.

All research has pointed towards these as the cause of almost all negative behaviour, it's nothing new - we already know the causes & we know the solution - just we don't want to do it.

There is a right/wrong way of solving social issues, the right way is by following empirical evidence & it's findings, the wrong way is following the opinion of the ill-informed public.

good god. Do you have any idea how painful it is when fitted to women who haven't had children? They are stretched open to allow enough space for them to feed a 1-2" coil through their cervix into their uterus, this would comfortably destroy a hymen of any kind effectively taking the virginity of every girl in the nation. Plus the sudden insertion of a 1-2" coil into an under developed uterus would result in intense cramping greater than that of any period they've ever had, lasting up to a week.

Some of the side effects can be pretty nasty too, including piercing of the womb and hair loss.

great idea :/

All the above plus the ethical questions arising from physically enforced sterilisation.

You have no idea if this guy was a fit parent or not, no-one does.
So he was un-employed and smoked some weed at some stage, oh noes throw the book at him.

Just a really unfortunate accident. This guy will have to live the rest of his life with this hanging over his head. Punishment enough imo.
