Well i've finally managed to kick my habit, after trying a few times in the past & failing, this time came up with a new plan to help me.

I went cold turkey, no patches ect this time as they keep ya addiction going, hence why i failed in the past, it's 2 days of living hell once that was over it got easier day by day now onto my 2nd week and hardly have any craving anymore, so well on the way to being a non smoker now.

Each day im saving £6.57 as that what i was spending on Smokes, as i use to smoke 20 a day, so that me saving £183.96 per month now.

I now no longer smell of smoke, nor do i have yellow stained fingers.
Can now smell smoke on other smokers & basically it stinks which is a good reason not to start again.

The only downsides atm are i feel constantly tired & want to scoff still, but that due to my blood sugar still being all over the show atm, which should sort itself out soon.

So yeah looks like im never going to be a smoker again now, i now feel healthier & the £184 per month i was spending on cigs will go into my savings.

Congrats man, I gave up just over a year ago and feel so much better for it. I'd say the first couple of weeks were the hardest personally. After that I began to feel better and my fitness is on the up as well. Just got to shift the few extra pounds I put on from all the extra food :(

i've cut down massively, on like 2-3 a day now, as of this weekend i'm stopping, dont dislike the habit, i do however dislike the prices, just too expensive, getting fed up paying so much.
same with beer, cutting down massively, spent WAY too much on it over the last month or so, not stopping drinking but limiting myself to 1 night out a month.

all the money i save will be getting fed right back into my car:D

I smoked 20 or more a day for a number of years and stopped back in July 2004 using the same method. Stick with it OP, it's one of the best decisions you'll make :)

I'm on 2 weeks and 2 days now myself.

After an abcess and a painfull tooth extraction I couldn't have smoked even if I wanted too. When I realised that a didn't really have any cravings I decided not to light another one up.

I had been a 10-15 a day for 11 years. Keep it up!

Well done for giving up, and hopefully you'll stay off them. It means you're less likely to need expensive and unpleasant hospital treatment.

One simple rule to stay a non-smoker is to never allow yourself to pick up or touch a cigarette again, just say to yourself you are simply not allowed to touch one.

Rgds

2 a day? So, you're going to put all of that £15 a month back into your car?

The possibilities.... Maybe a new air freshener or two ;)

Congrats OP. I've done long cold turkey stints before, the last was 9 months without a waiver, then went back in them like nothing happened :( Vaping now and not really bothered about quitting that right now

Good luck

Well done Ixon, I gave up last August. I also went cold turkey which gets the nicotine out of your system quicker. Now i don't even think about it. I went through a few months of eating too much and put a bit of weight on until i started running a few miles a few times a week. I smoked 20 a day for 22 years and was extremely unfit, wheezy and could not run 10 yards for bus without coughing up a lung. Now i feel the best i have ever been.

So keep going and don't eat too many pies. :D
