Hey guys

I finally decided to take the plung and go for the revodrive 3 x2 240gb but i find myself in a pickle as my motherboard is this:

http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1366/P6T_Deluxe/#specifications

My 3x pcie x16 are taken by 2 graphics cards with one of them over lapping!!

I will be trying it in my PCIe x4 slot but because its gen 1 i might experience bottleneck!!

Has anyone experienced any problems with Revodrive 3 on older Motherboards? let me know if you think it will work or not!!!

mmm your right would it be better if i tried to attach it to one of the PCIe x16 slots and it would be running at PCIe x8 because of bios settings.

Would that make it faster??

If it's a x4 PCI-E 1.0 slot then the maximum throughput is 1,000MB/s.

If you can use one of the Gen 2.0 slots then the maximum throughput at x4 is 2,000MB/s.

Running one of your graphics cards at x8 speed will have hardly any effect on its performance.

From the OCZ website :
Read: Up to 1500 MB/s
Write: Up to 1225 MB/s

So being capped to 1000MB/s (4x250MB/s lanes) will bottleneck you.

Realistically though you won't notice any difference. In fact you probably wouldn't notice any difference 99% of the time between a PC running on a Revodrive 3 X2, and one running on a single Intel drive from 3 years ago. The IOPS bottleneck is lifted with pretty much any SSD and the only time you ever really stretch the sequential speeds is benchmarking. Game loads can't usually pull more than 100MB/s due to other bottlenecks, and copying to other drives will be limited by the other drives or your network connection.

Mmmmm your right I think I will try it in the pcie x4 or can I ask my 2nd graphics car running on x8 will that make a difference? As I have them in crossfire but don't really use crossfire!!

And will x8 for revodrive be ok?? Decisions decisions!!

The RevoDrive will only run at x4 speed if you put it in a x4, x8 or x16 speed slot.

1000MB/s not fast enough for you?

And:
