I recall several years ago, Bob Geldolf in Africa in some remote area where a local Kony type, possibly Kony himself had denigned that the girls should never be at school type ethos. A girl caught schooling was sentence to death, she was tied in the middle of a circle of other kids, their hands bound behind their backs, and they were to carry out the execution, by biting her to death.
If they didn't partake they were beaten or would suffer the same fate.
After he told the story, I recall Geldolf looking to the cameraman/interviwer/recorder type person and saying something along the lines of, 'I don't understand why men with guns can't come and shoot this man dead.'
His eyes were dead with emotion, and you could see he truely meant his words.
It isn't what you normally hear a commentator saying on comic relief or live aid or whatever big show it was, might have been the Live8 era. His words and meaning stuck with me. Clearly sometimes donating money will not be enough, some folks just need shot through the head.
