OK that's strange. Read the temperatures with realtemp and lets fully load the PC. Run OCCT AND Furmark at the same time

I was hoping it would hang ... post your temps .... it's looking like the d2x as the main culprit. So live without it for a few days and see how you get on

Just closed fur mark and it crashed hopefully it did the print screen first

when it crashed cpu cores were mid 60s and gfx 85

and what was the surface/diode temperature (cputin) as recorded by realtemp instead of hwmonitor.

Did the whole machine cut out or just hang ? Or was it a simple application crash.

Let's finish off with the CPU first. Ensure the heatsink is correctly seated

didn't have realtemp running had coretemp though that was showing 60

That reading of 60 seems dodgy. If it's a bust sensor that toggles between 60 and 120 then that could cause the intermittent cut outs especially if you have CPU temp protection on in the BIOS (usually a default)

Sort out the CPU cooler first to ensure that it's well seated.

ok, how do I know if its incorrect? i need to re-apply the paste i presume? if so how do i cleanoff the old stuff? i really could cry about now lol sad cow. thanks for your help! x

I assume it's the standard HSF that came with the CPU right ? If so... all 4 push pins must be firmly in place. How hot is the heatsink when you touch it ?

Also can you post a pic of the inside of your case ?

Damn don't bother - getting stumped here. Everything looks good on paper. :confused:

Could you answer my other questions about how your machine crashes ? Have you checked the event log for clues ?

it just locks up/seizes and i can't do anything can't get mouse to move, keyboard input doesn't work either so can't ctrl/alt/del i have to turn off at wall and turn it back on again.

Have a look through your event log for clues.

Remove the d2x and repeat the test. Full load cpu and gpu ... see if it locks up. Gradually continue to a remove components right down to 1 stick of ram, cpu and gpu

.... and whilst you're at it, get me that cuppa .... 2 sugars please TA

Well load test on the CPU works. GPU fails so the finger does point at the GPU but you know this game... it could be anything
