Australian Grand Prix 2012, Albert Park Circuit - Race 1/20

I think a perfect start would be the mclarens still leading after the first corner and Msc and vettel coming together.

I guess we get to see how good vettels starts are now he cannot see clear road. I'm expecting him to be 3rd or 4th after the first corner.

Not looking forward to the early start!

one thing I didnt like is that they edited far too many single laps imo, did the viewer get a single complete lap apart from LH's pole lap (even this was after the event)

Other than that I liked it - and even thought Ben Edwards did ok

Ben Edwards is 'ok', but I miss Martin Brundle's distinctive voice and general personality, such as on the gridwalks. You always know he's never sensationalist for the sake of excitement. Still, I just found out that Ben Edwards is an ex driver himself, not just a media voice, so that gives me more confidence in what he might say during races.

When Edwards used to do Eurosport up against walker I used to watch Eurosport. I prefer the bbc line up as does my mrs but can't be doing with 10 live races so I will probably get used to sky and stay with it. The bbc will then lose figures as they want and have an excuse to drop it all together except for a late night highlights re run with sue barker.

It was a surprise at first to not hear Brundle's voice on the BBC, however Ben Edwards' voice isn't too bad and seems to have a good rapport with DC so hopefully that will continue for the live races on the BBC :)

Just remarkable that Lotus have been able to go from almost zero to hero in a year.

Unfortunately they can't seem to develop the car through the year - must be a budget thing thought surely, because they can certainly build a decent car? Wonder how long it will be until the teams copy the Mercedes parts, or get them banned?

Didn't take long for the Mercedes under floor to get snapped.

Think I'll get up at 4.45 tomorrow so that I can fast forward through the ad breaks.

Seriosly do the stewards have cameras or something? surely that shouldnt be allowed? Am hoping I can stay up to watch it, if I tell my girlfriend that Lewis and Jensen are on pole then I reckon she'll watch it with me hehe

edit, nvm, just noticed photographer in black lol

Alarm set for 4.30, the time it takes for me to get a wash, brush my teeth and make breakfast will hopefully give me some advert skipping time.

Qualifying has only increased my excitement for this one :D

As quick as Lotus and Mercedes were today, it'll be interesting to see if..

1. reliability is good and something doesn't get fubared like gearboxes
2. their pitstop teams can put super fast tyre changes together
3. their pitstop strategy is well thought out
4. they make a mistake and crash or skid out.

Much as we all want Hammy or Button to win, nothing would be more exciting than to see either Schumi, Rosberg, Grosjean or Kimi leading the pack. At least, for some of the race.

So do i get up early to watch a sky stream and risk disappointment when my net can't handle it or try and avoid finding out the result till beeb highlights.... :o

No adverts during qualifying or the race. There will be adverts in the build up and post event.

They've said that all along.

Overall, Sky did a damn good job for their first event and Crofty and Brundle are an excellent combination, but it was still great to hear Crofty and Ant bitching at each other through the FP sessions.

All in all 9/10 so far.

I agree, what I have seen, Sky have done well.

Ah seems that Webber didn't have KERS so that's 3/10th with that in mind McLaren arent that fair ahead.

Watching Kimi again, it seems he probably could have got a top 12 spot, but obviously going on the grass made him miss the, or catch rather the flag, denying him that extra lap.

Hamilton's pole lap was his first flying lap so he was carrying more fuel than the others who went faster on their 2nd. As the McLaren aborted its second fast lap we don't know how fast it could have gone. The onboard shows that Lewis wasn't exactly pushing things that hard either, there were occasions when he was leaving yards of space between the car and the edge of the track.

There was definitely quite a bit more to come from the McLaren if needed.
