I will make London a beacon of Islam

As much as I think Ken is a bit of an idiot (in general) I have to admit I don't find what he said all that shocking.

To me it sounded like he was telling Muslims from a troubled area (I'm assuming from the previous troubles at that mosque) that he doesn't believe Muslims are to be feared and that the general public needs to learn that as well.

Lets be honest what most people know of Islam comes from the tabloids, so a bit of education on Islam (and all religions & beliefs inc. atheism.) wouldn't be a bad thing in general.

What really needs to happen is for the tabloids to stop reporting when any religious nut job makes a stupid comment. The sooner all extremists are ignored the better!

In a few generations the majority of Muslims will treat religion the same as most Christians do in this country, celebrate the good bits and go a bit lax on the harder stuff. :D

Yeah obviously there are plenty of normal healthy people, but wouldn't you agree there is a deliberate push to encourage that unhealthy behaviour? Whether simply for profit or some other sinister political reasons?

Each year it get's worse and worse and it just confusing kids growing up now. The old moral compass of Britain has basically been smashed up and replaced with something else.

Well as much of a smart **** i like to think i am i've never actualy thought about this in the way you just put it. Its what you would call a bit of an eye-opener and your right that all i know about Islam is what the newspapers said about some scary guy with a beard saying we need Sharia law. All the muslims i have known have been good honest people for the most part and just trying to make a living like the rest of us.

Instead of keeping my thoughts grounded in reality from my own personal experiences i seem to have been swept up with this anti-islamic rhetoric being spewed from most of the western press and internet sites. I apologise for any offence i've caused and will be having a serious look in the mirror,i did not intend to make anyone feel bad i just get too swept up in the moment sometimes:o. I owe you all a beer and a chiken tika masala:D

..you don't see hindus, buddhists and jews asking for more or causing ruckus...i don't know why our government tolerate demands of hardcore islamic groups in uk.. its ****ing everyone off..

i kind of get what your saying.....but

Most islamic people are just ordinery everyday folk,they sell alcohol in their shops and even products with pork in them. that just goes to show that they are not of the same mentality as the extremists we all hear about in the news. Theres hardcore elements in every part of society its just that with the wars going on in the middle east right now and the large numbers of muslims we have here the media is focusing on relatively rare incidents to get a story out of it whilst ignoring the social issues that natives have like obesity lazyness,selfishness and lack of respect for eachother. nobodys perfect.

As monkeyman said,as each generation progresses and becomes more integrated into British society these stereotypes will gradualy disintegrate and we will all be better of for it. besides this is an island nation,we need some new blood so that we dont all start inbreeding :p

I don't know whether to cry or laugh.

Adhering to the rules of Islam doesn't make one an extremist, it makes you a Muslim. I've said it before, it's very easy to be a practising Muslim in the UK.

i didnt say being a muslim was = to being an extremist,if it was true i would have been stoned to death whilst drunk down the local kebab shop.
 
I want to expand on my ideas quickly before I get bored of this thread:

I would consider myself a true rational free thinker. I love America because it was set up by the founding fathers to protect that trait as a God given right.

The problem is that 99% of people are IMO neurologically incapable of independent critical thought. They need a framework to refer to and answer all their questions.

That framework is stuff like:

Christianity
Islam
Conservatism
Liberalism
Animal Rights
Falun Gong
Whatever

Largely they work OK.

Over the past few decades the state framework of the UK has become Political Correctness and most of you guys are deeply invested in it, because it has been literally telling you want to think since you were kids. I don't believe it is a sustainable or healthy framework. I look at the UK and see a lot of unhappy people trying to fill the void they feel in life with mindless consumerism, self-indulgance and this touchy-feely polictal correctness crap.

It will inevitably be replaced by something else and IMO it could easily be Islam.

yeah it was set up that way but its not like that anymore,patriot act etc etc.

Your now on a terrorist watchlist for following what the government advises you to do in the USA(storing food incase of natural disasters,first aid kits,sleeping bags,torches)

Its just going to get worse and worse. Why the hell do we need religion? Whatever happened to natural human instincts ,feelings of guilt,compassion for our fellow man,that little voice in our heads that says "dont do that its bad" Even animals behave according to instinctual values,if we need a book to tell us how to do that then we have no hope at all.

i think we need a new religion ,it should be called "being good". it has but 1 commandment,be good or people will think your a douchebag. Simple.

That stuf is mostly over-blow BS by attention whores like Alex Jones and Glen Beck who make money from conspiracy theories.

The government actually encourages storing food and supplies. Not just the fed gov but local govs too. In fact they offer a thing called CERT which trains you as a civilian emergency responder. There is a woman at my practical shooting club that was actually told by the Sheriff department to buy a gun and get training after she contacted them about a stalker. I love this place.
