So am I right thinking that I can download the WanamLite ROM which is is already pre-rooted, and install it straight away using ODIN without having to do anything else?

Edit - I think I've got my head round it now, if I root first then install the WanamLite ROM - everything will be fine. Though if i root first and then install a non pre-rooted ROM, I will need to root all over again?

That is a CWM flashable zip, not Odin (unless he's updated it) so you'd have to root first then flash via CWM for those zips.

I'm just trying to decide which best ROM to go for, theres so many to choose from lol and they all look/sound great.

I cant get Kies to update my S2 to ICS, it howloads the firmware components and then i get an error FirewareUpdate has stopped working.

I am on windows 7 64bit

Any ideas?
 
Have you got Kies installed? (it installs drivers, make sure it isnt running when using Odin though). Have you either set Windows Update to automaticaly install drivers, or clicked the popup when you plug it in and chose to install drivers from Windows Update?

hmm I had no such issues...

Try to restart computer, restart phome try again.

The only issue I had was at the beginning getting KIES to communicate with the phone. When the phone autp locked, it would caus issues with KIES before a certain point.

No - I am using a clean build on W7 on a netbook.
 
You can get USB drivers from samfirmware, install those without Kies :)



I realised something today while queueing for lunch, in the excitement to install the latest AOKP I realised that it might be unlikely that AOSP/AOKP ever have stereo recording with the camcorder and if I do record video then I'd want stereo sound to go with it!

It may be that I restore my LP7 backup in light of this new realisation.

my lp7 is playing up big time.. trying to remove a contact bang reboot.. accessing some things bang reboot it seems to be random not something caused by the repeating something..

Weird, not had any such issue on mine before, what mods/ROM did you install?

I've just tried to restore my LP7 Nandroid and CWM Recovery 5.5 froze on restoring data.

Brix were **** but I noticed that it (CWM 5.5) restored the boot partition first which contained the old CWM so am now restoring on old CWM recovery :p

the setup you posted :o tried removing some more contacts and it froze and rebooted again.. has done the same yesterday doing other things - launching apps that once worked now rebooted too.. :/
