What film did you watch last night?

Yeah, I had a similar experience, I have to say, if you haven't yet, go see the play. The film works in the mediam it is in, but the play sticks more to the original story and is absolutely chilling example of theatre at its best.

kd

My missus agrees with you here, she went and saw the play, i havent been myself but she said that the play was much more chilling than the movie itself.

Unfaithful, with Richard Gere, Diane Lane and Oliver Martinez.

It was pretty good, 6.5/10

Diane Lane is mucho sexy. I always liked Judge Dread with her too :D

I watched Into the wild
Ok film if you dont mind its silly sentimental take on a rather unique character

Also on a similar line but totally a documentary as its self filmed - Alone in the Wilderness about a guy who did similar epic adventures but for decades longer. Wish I was a carpenter, serious respect is due

Just finished watching the Stieg Larsson trilogy of films:

The girl with the dragon tattoo
The girl who played with fire
The girl who kicked the hornets nest

9/10 Absolutely brilliant stuff with lots of twists. Noomi Rapace is fantastic in her role as Lisbeth Salander. I would highly reccomend this trilogy for anyone wanting a good crime drama.

I agree, excellent viewing.I remember eagerly awaiting the release of Hornets nest, couldn't wait to see how things shaped up:D
Watched the 3 Musketeers last night,very good comedy/action flick.James Corden was a good laugh.8/10

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - After all of the talk yesterday about how bad this film was it happened to turn up in the post so I put it on. Having always liked Transformers I have found that the new films have always been poor but this one just had large sections of mind numbing CGI and characters I could not care about. Whilst it was too long and bloated it wasn't all bad, I think it was partly saved by Alan Tudyk and the 'driller' decepticon. However as it made over $1bn there will be more but I read that the next will be a bit of a re-boot and hopefully cut out a lot of the bloat. 2/5

Watched Friends With Benefits (again) last night, certainly one of the better rom-coms, Mila Kunis is super pretty and Justin Timberlake isn't even that annoying in it. Even has a decent soundtrack.

Rented this on the weekend and watched with the misses. It really suprised me, really enjoyed it and laughed a lot throughout. Mila Kunis is incredibly pretty and I actually thought JT was quite good!!

Overall a very good Rom-com IMO!

Rented Inglourious ******** yesterday on Blu Ray having got it on DVD already. Difference is amazing.

10/10. Brilliant film.

Although, I remember reading the script first and there are quite a lot of scenes that were left out that would've made it better.

Inglourious ********:
What I found was that the opening act (which lasted for about 10 minutes), was about the best piece of cinema/film-making I have ever seen. The actors, director, script writers, editors did their job perfectly - I can't fault it in any way (and believe me, I have tried). However, after that opening scene, things go downhill (not to really low levels, but just not as good as the first act).

8.5/10 (Excluding opening scene, I'd have given it 7/10)

I thought that scene in the farmhouse and the scene in the underground bar (the ****** basement) were both brilliant, because the tension was almost unbearable.

Outside of those two scenes, the film was still very good, but not brilliant.

It's still being made by Michael Bay, so I wouldn't count on it.

For a director to reboot his own films, he is admitting he failed. Bay is a talentless film maker, so expect more of the same.

Oh joy.

I wouldn't say he is talentless, though I will say that I think his work suits youngsters better, ie. if I saw Transformers when I was 12, I think I'd have liked it. But at the age of 35, I think the storyline is so abysmal, even a college student could've come up with a better plot.

I don't have a problem with him or his films. Yeah, they have some awful acting, straight forward plain story line, nothing but non stop action etc.

But so what!? :p They are entertaining and they're films where you can just sit back and switch the brain off! :D

One of my favourite films is the rock along with the transformer films.

And no I am not a teenager! :p

I actually like The Rock. The storyline was straight forward and made sense.

The storylines to Transformers are so abysmal, the mind boggles what they were thinking. Perhaps they were drunk when they came up with the story OR they had a gun at their heads while the script was being written.

If you are suggesting that a movie which is laden with special FX or action should be devoid of a good storyline or good acting, then you are sorely wrong. Terminator 2 is one of my all-time fave movies for action and the storyline was not patched together - it was strong and the acting was decent. The Matrix (arguably one of the most SFX laden movies of its time), Aliens, Die Hard are all good examples of good plots with good action and SFX.

If you want good storylines, you only need to look at the cartoons for Transformers. I'm surprised that Bay did not hire a team of story writers from the cartoon movies and not have them write a good plot.

There is no excuse for action movies having weak plots which feel as if they have been cobbled together while drunk.

Oh I do completely agree with you. Terminator 2 is also one of my favourite films along with every other Arnie film! :D

What I am saying is just enjoy the film for what it is and the transformer films by MB are suppose to be action, crap straight forward plot, which makes no sense in some parts, hot girl starring :D, the best CGI etc.

Kind of like the TKDR and the avengers, both are going to be completely different films but are going to be amazing in their own way

- TDKR will have a great story line, amazing acting, nice little twists tied in as well, very good script
- avengers will be your typical superhero film like iron man, thor etc. amazing CGI, straight forward plot/story, hot girl that does a pose every scene and after every guy that she takes down :p, good acting as well (but won't be near the levels of Bale, Hardy, Oldman etc.), comical lines (mostly by Stark)

I am also a massive fan of the G1 transformer cartoons especially the movie! And it did annoy me that MB completely xxxxxx up in some areas regarding the names of some of the robots, weaknesses and strengths of some of them, sizes of the bots (bumblebee was the smallest out of them all, but Jazz took that part!!!!), the origins etc.

At the ripe of age of 27 I can still watch the original 80s Transformers film (every now and again) and love it. So much better than the new films. I did enjoy the new films to an extent but I think that was just due to nostalgia.
