*** The Official HTC EVO 3D Thread! ***

No, mine is fine. Have used the phone for calls and not noticed any issues with the ear piece. Was just on a skype chat, and the loud speaker also sounded fine. Guess you need to get your replaced/repaired.

Just googled to see if there's a problem with blown earpieces and it seems there is.

Time to ring Asda and see if I can get a refund, hope so as I'm not too keen on this phone anyway.

I am sure I saw one person say they replaced the ear piece three times with new ones, and it made no difference (That was on XDA somewhere I think).

Well Asda have said they'll replace it, and give me a partial refund.

But if the next one is the same I'll try for a full refund.

i'll have a look over on XDA, so cheers for that.

I miss a standard Nokia feature.

a quick press of the power button that allows you to change your sound profile.

For example - When I get to work - I want to quickly switch it into 'silent' or 'discrete' mode.

What's the easiest way of doing this?

The "quick settings" app can be called up with a long press of the search button, and can be used to change ringer, alter brightness, activate airplane mode or wifi, etc..

Actually there are two apps with the same name - both do much the same thing, try them both.

There's also an app called Hush, which is triggered by turning volume down to zero. It pops up a dialog asking you how long you want the phone to be in silent mode. You can put in a time, or just click, "until i switch you back on".

Finally, a widget on the home screen is the traditional approach.

Bummer.. need to get a case for the Evo 3D now, as the one I ordered hasn't turned up :-( Optimus 2X now listed on XDA so I'd better get a move on and get one as the 3D is about to turn into my main phone rather than a play thing lol.

I'm liking the Evo 3D so far, but some things are just annoying. The much less customised LG (i.e. almost raw gingerbread) is much easier to use, and doens't try and control every last detail, and simple things like having a calender on display where there.. because well.. you know.. that's actually useful. Extended battery is hanging on in there, doing ok, although as with most extended batteries, no flippin' cases fit, so taking a risk with it :-(

Anyone looking for a decent case, take a look at the Trident Kraken AMS.

EDIT: I've ordered a cheap hard case so far... didn't turn up. Ordered a hard case from another supplier.. and they sent a rubbish mesh case arghhh!). Will get that sorted... but the longer I'm without protection for the phone the more likely I am to blow £25 on the Trident Krakken AMS. It looks relatively slim and includes port covers : Given Ace Modders SGS2 warranty issue with usb port, maybe not a bad idea!

Just got my PDAir vertial case, its pretty good. Its the only pouch I have found that actually fits properly. It does have a few gaps in it (designed to be there) which could let in dirt/dust. Interior could be made of a softer material, but OK.

Has anyone tried out MHL yet? I've bought a kidigi dock with hdmi output, and so far, it's real flakey, it keeps going black screen for a few seconds every 30 seconds (ish).

Nope, but I have the KiDiGi dock here (without HDMI) and its pretty good.

I get the impression that the normal docks are actually much better, as you can keep a case on as well.

I was having issues with my HDMI output it kept flaking out every 30 seconds ish, but now seems to work, although when in docked mode.. it brings it up in landscape.. then somehow switches back to 'semi' potrait... VERY annoying.

Yeah watched that yesterday, and showed my folks I thought the 3D effect was that good. The drill looks like it's actually about to wack you in the face.. it really is incredibly effective.

Same, still on stock as well. I wish sense was more customisable, or even could turn it off though. Look back a few pages for rooting suggestions.

Any of you chaps got a MHL adaptor for this? I have an MHL dock and when using the 'dock mode' application, the HDMI screen it's connected to shows landscape view just fine... However... a few seconds later the weather loads up in dock mode and the screen goes into a semi portrait mode, looking like the top and bottom are off screen, and I can only see the weather animation.

If someone can try their MHL adaptor and dock mode I'd really appreciate it.
