Hi all,

Looking at getting rid of our golf and i'll be getting rid of my 3 corrados purely because restoration and upkeep are going to be silly amounts.

So, we'll be getting an A4 for a new family car and then I want something with a little bit of umph so was thinking about a 350z. Anyone any experiences of owning/driving one?

tax isn't as bad as i thought, and only being a two seater kind of means that it'll only be me in there as it's not really suitable for a 2 + car seat. Not ideal but i'll just have to make sure the Audi has some power in it for family day's out.

Don't know much about them, only experience driving one briefly and I thought the handling was rather average almost poor compared to how the car stacks up for performance - tho bare in mind it was a car that spent 90% of its life being rinsed around a track by joe public and I'd just got out of the GTR which has absolutely insane handling.

Gorgeous looking cars tho and can be had for a pretty reasonable sum you almost can't go wrong at the current prices. Quite tempted to get one myself as I can now afford one but having driven the GTR (which I can't afford) it would feel like a substitute.

I currently own one. Ive got the 313 version with the GT pack, Sat Nav, Blutooth Phone etc. Sadly though i have to pay the full £460 tax on it :(

Awesome car, i love it!

Only gripes really are

1. Boot space - practically useless because of the suspension strut.
2. Factory sat nav doesnt have Post Code search

I do use mine as my main car though so those issue may not apply if its your fun toy car :)

If you look through my previous threads I've made at least two with a write up about the car and a breakdown of some of the running costs.

Great cars which can be had fairly cheaply.

I have one. 04 GT pack.

Fuel economy is OK, 22MPG is what I average.

Running costs overall are expensive, brakes mainly but on earlier cars suspension bits (ARB droplinks mainly) are prone to wearing out.

Noise is epic, very comfy, effortless drive because of the power delivery and nice chunky manual box.

If I could some up the 350z is one word, that word would be; progressive. Everything about it, the handling, braking, acceleration.

I went for an earlier car as I didnt want/need nav or the extra power upgrades. I wanted the orange colour though :)

Bought a facelift '56 plate last month and am using it as my daily drive. Love it to bits.

Would echo the comments about it feeling really solid and chunky in terms of handling, gears and braking. The ride is not so firm that you can't cruise in comfort on a motorway run, but put it through some twisty B-roads and the handling - like the proverbial poop to a blanket.

The boot space is awkward but I manage to get a 2x12" combo guitar amp in it (just).

Insurance isn't too bad (~£750 with a fair amount of NCD), petrol hurts a bit but what do you expect and tyres can be as little as ~£500 a set if you are happy with Falkens.

If I was getting one as a weekend car and wanted to minimise outlay and ongoing costs I would go for a pre-facelift 04 plate one as they can be picked up from as little as £7k and will be in the lower tax band. That is a lot of car for the money. Yeah the pre-facelift interior is a bit pants but you want it for a weekend toy, and even an 8 year old one isn't likely to have silly miles on it either.

Epic car for the money. (Well probably not epic, but close to it as a proper drivers car, as from the factory).

One thing to watch for is the MAF which I believe is prone to breaking and can cost £500 to replace. Other than that... just the costs of running a sports car really. Parts WILL be more expensive, but not massively so.

I have always wanted one, but got married and had kids and so the money I had went.

Get one, if only to have had one :-) (Make sure it's been well maintained though, don't go 'cheap').

On the audi side.. I loved my A4 avant TDi :-) Very good car, but parts are pricey compared to the VW variant. Mine is sat on the drive with 260k miles still working.

Love my 350z to bits, if a little expensive to run on petrol and tax £460.00 a year. Had for just over a year and not had one fault. It is used as an every day car and find the boot space ample. I manage to get all my weekly shopping, golf clubs etc no problem!

Yeah apparently they are fairly rare, no doubt when i sell i will be selling private, not going to be for long time though just hit 16,000 on the clock

Had one for a couple of months as my daily and its absolutely fantastic IMO!

Perfect for me as i do very little essential mileage and what I do do is covered by work.

To me its just a great experience every time you get behind the wheel.

Petrol is certainly an issue if you are in town. I went into it with my eyes open so im happy with it though. My only concern with having it as a second car would be not wanting to drive the other one!!!

Also love the Nismo kit above!

i always wanted one of these with the v3 nismo kit. but i dont think they make the nismo V3 kit in the UK, along with a chargespeed spoiler. yum yum.

Very tempted to get one of these soon (once I've moved for a new job).

I'll most likely be living <4 miles from work so I'll aim to cycle most days so petrol shouldn't be a problem :).

Will just need a reason to drive it :p

Looking at one for sale this morning - 313 version. Can't wait! Have always wanted one - what are your thoughts on the interior? Black, frost or orange leather?

Will just need a reason to drive it :p

You don't need a reason. :D

I have a Kuro black 04 GT and I love it to bits. The sound is unbelievable I'm currently on 19.5mpg but have only had it 2 weeks so still finding out what it can do :) .

It's so much fun to drive and stands out from other cars as its got the looks but not in your face.

Only gripe I have is the Bose stereo is a bit temperamental when playing cds and decides which side of the car it wants to play music out of the speakers.

Take a couple for a test drive then you will know what we mean :D
