People should make it clear that, yes, troops of any army are trained to kill but it's their job.

To tar all of them as "killers" is entirely unfair on the soldiers and to post it publicly was stupidity personified. Especially when you factor in what these men actually deal with, it's completely parallel to how we live our lives at home.

The EDL reaction, however, certainly didn't make their image any better than it was and the hypocrisy of shouting scum and so on is just stooping to that man's level. Idiots.

It was also the job of those tried at the Nuremberg trials. The fact it's their job is not a moral defense of what they do as soldiers.

Yeah i probably would be speaking German if we hadn't won WW1. But you make the assumption that we got involved out of moral duty and that is not the case.

Do you know that the British government refused to accept Jewish refugees from Germany before they were sent to concentration camps even after Hitler informed the world of what he was planning to do with them?

From reading some of the responses on here I can tell a lot of you read too much Daily Mail for your own good. Put down the newspapers. They have an agenda. Independent media does not.

Winston Churchill was half Jewish and the leader of the British government so i doubt there was any jewish discrimination from the British government there. Theres more to it than what you imply. People like Adolf Hitler used to simplify things too and trivialise things such as the Jewish race and portray them as rats in propaganda films. Fact is we need an army, and I'm very grateful to the troops who risk their lives, because I certainly wouldn't want to do it. If there were nobody to do the job, there would be some sort of national service/conscription and we'd ALL have to chip in do it.

It's like any number of jobs out there that most people wouldn't want to do (butcher, sewage worker, oil rigger etc). It's very easy to comment and criticise when you don't have to get involved and can judge from the sidelines.

i read independent news and i dont buy newspapers.I know all about the big bad government and their thirst for oil and the lies they tell. Calling out the politicians for that is one thing but to disrespect the people who lay their life on the line for the country is a bit stupid.

I would say your 1out of3 correct with your job description. I know a few people or freinds freinds that are out on the rigs. The money is what got them out there, or other problems and issues at home.
