Guild Wars 2

Is RBG actually taken seriously? (I quit at end of wotlk)

Also when PvE skills are the same as PvP the balance is never going to be very good, it is decent for what it is but there is also a reason it isn't a big e-sport, although i thoroughly enjoyed it when it was at MLG.

Yeah it's taken seriously, it's just arena on a larger scale. I still think that arena is considered more important though.

I agree with you about Totalbiscuit as well, he's an irritating, clueless moron. He used to be better a long time ago.

That person sounds like a bit of a fanboy to be honest. "OMG EVERYTHING IS AWESOME" :p

It's at least as valid as someone saying the exact opposite though, isn't it? My point - and, indeed, the Redditor's point - is just to balance the discussion a bit. He clearly loves the game (don't we all hope to?) but he points out why the combat isn't just a button-mash instead of just saying "haters gonna hate".

I doubt it will be just button mashing, if it is at the moment it means that either people haven't learned how to use the skills yet or it'll be fixed before the game is released, I have faith in ANet.

Guild wars was and still is the most balanced MMO I've ever played in PVP, I'm hoping GW2 will be the same.

Liking it a lot to be honest. It does feel a but button bashy but after reading what each skill does I used them in a certain order to maximise damage. Strangely enough I saw the words combo. I'm sure once people learn to use their skills properly they will be fine. Wow was the same for me at the start. Hit anything off CD. But then you work out how to play to maximise damage. Gw2 is new and really plays nothing like its predecessor. If I have any gripes it's crappy frames I'm getting. Really need to get the upgrade sorted before this or D3 are out.

Can't wait for full release.

He goes in with the my opinion is right, yours is wrong and if you disagree or call me out I'll rant about it and get extremely butt hurt.

Or the fact he takes a good 20 minutes going over the same point.

I went back to wow the other night and did LFR, think I'm just burnt from MMOs and praying GW2 saves them for me.

Can't see myself going back to wow anytime soon. Great game. Great at using all my free time too. So really it's a little too good. Still the monthly fee is annoying when you only get to play 6 or so hours a month.

I wasn't impressed at all, managed to play 10-15 mins before I was bored :(

I understand it's a beta but meh. I'll still buy it when it comes out though due to no monthly free.

I personally can't wait to play now. No real bugs, I found a scout who had no icon on the world map. I also complained about one of the Personal Story missions being stupidly hard. Within the same mission I also sat killing hordes of enemies before noticing the towers in the background that I could actually target to kill. The quest text simply said defend against the attacking ghosts which is what I did for 15 minutes :(

Totalbiscuit does some decent videos and obviously knows what he's talking about, but his personality is what puts me off. I really can't understand how anybody finds him entertaining - the subjects of his videos are the only reason I ever watch any of them.

He's certainly no Day[9] or Yogscast, who balance good quality videos with great humour and all-round entertainment.

I find TB a bit off putting yes, I know it's his persona and that's what some people enjoy but I tend to find him arrogant. I agree with many of his opinions as well, it's just he puts them across in a way that says "this is the gospel as I think it and any counter-points are ill-informed"...

Still, best content by and large, his WTF is series is without equal.

Do you think we could maybe discuss the game rather than how much people like/dislike TotalBiscuit?

So far what I've heard really isn't selling me on the idea that changing the gameplay from GWs very teambased style to this is working.

The trouble is though most people will have only played the early levels of the game. Everyone started off at 1 and had a weekend to progress. I saw the entrance to Catacombs but wasn't high enough level to think about venturing there.

I never played the first game so I dont think it would be much of a difference like. I do still like having healers/tanks but it is different enough for a change and its no monthly fee.

GW is very different to GW2. GW was very team based. Again though this was only towards the end game or during missions. There was no tank role in GW, sure you had warriors but the focus of damage wouldn't be on them.

Would be interested to hear your opinion after the weekend... I am struggling to get hyped about it too.

Well my opinion didn't change imo it was the least interesting MMO I've played in a while and if it was a subscription based MMO I think it would get slaughtered and the whole "public quest" idea for most of the quests was rubbish as it's so dependent on other players being there.

How does the game run on current hardware? is it very demanding? will my i7 920 and 480gtx be enough to max this game at 1080p res?

was getting 10-20 fps on lowest settings on 570 , phenom x4 955

It eats my current machine alive but then my hardware is poor. Intel Core Q6600, HD 4850, 3GB RAM.
I would be interested how others got on, I am finalizing my upgrade, hope it will make a difference for the next beta.

I am hoping to get into beta myself so that I can take a first hand look at things. Its hard I suppose to take too much from the thoughts of a couple of days play, generally speaking if someone critiques any MMO based on a couple of days of play the general populace responds by saying that you cant judge an MMO on such a short space of time of play, so I'm applying that to this weekends player thoughts too.

At this stage, based on just a couple of days, opinions of the game are commonly swayed by peoples preconceptions and their predetermined decisions to like or dislike, I'm looking forward to seeing how (or how not) peoples opinions and thoughts change as they get more play time in the game over the coming beta periods.
