I find that the tension adjustment on the pedal tends to make the pedal flop over, making it more difficult to clip in cleanly.

With an SPD pedal you can just mash it in really quickly, I am still adjusting to the SPD-SL, can be tricky to get clipped in straight away from traffic lights making it slow to get away.

Can be but I ride SPD-SLs through central London five days a week so it can be done. :)

New legs please!!
My first cycle of the year that wasn't commuting I think..

54 miles in 3hrs 26mins - avg 15.7mph

This is actually my ride partners log as my sports tracker decided to stop when we got to the top of the hill. Fuuuuuuuuuuuu

Jesus The Malvern hills are as steep as they look :D :o[/QUOTE]

I feel your pain! Just did my longest ever cycle this morning.

It was incredibly tough going for me and my legs are knackered. Trust my rear valve core to play up today too! Had to pump up numerous times as it kept deflating. Need to change the tube in a minute. It was also my first time riding with a group - great fun!

Snapped a spoke mid cycle on my 25mile round trip :(

Heres my Endomondo data for the first half which was the same trip I did 6 weeks ago, added 2mph to my average speed so am chuffed!

I was painfully close to hitting the 20mph average, I'll be aiming for that next time around! So desperate to drop the last 16lbs so I can finally treat myself to a new bike to see what I'm really capable of!

Well done cork-spotters
Shame about the Spoke Rusty :(

Going up the hill wasn't much fun (I don't have the staying power)

But coming back down was epic. :D

Hi all :)

Took my bike out on its first ride today. In fact, it was my first road ride in at least the last 11 years.

Is the Garmin Edge 800 the only choice when it comes to having a SatNav on the bike? I live in south west London, but I don't know the roads well enough to have the confidence to just go out on a ride.

Arrrghhh!
Went out to try and beat a Strava record this afternoon.
Gave it everything, missed the 47:27 time for the loop by 23 seconds :(
So annoying. This strava thing is very addictive, i'm going to have to try this loop again in the nice long evening tomorrow. I got slowed down a bit behind a tractor on the final descent, so i think i might be able to shave a little off my time.

Thinking about buying a Fizik Arione CX saddle as my current saddle is not very comfy even after just an hour with padded underwear, anyone have anyt opinions on this saddle?

It's a nice saddle but these things are very personal so the only way to find out if you like it is to try it. If you don't sell it and try another one. :)

There could be other issues though if your current saddle is uncomfortable. Is the fore/aft position correct and is it properly level?

Join Kingston Wheelers. Seriously, they have loads of folks of all standards going out each Sunday and they are very friendly.

Thanks for the tip! I'm not too far from Kingston (about 6 miles). I've only lived in London for a few months, so it would actually be good to meet some new people.

Doing my first commute to work on the bike tomorrow. My arse is still sore from this morning though :/

First TT of the season on a rolling course.

Happy with my time, even though it was only good enough for 35/50. Very strong field and I don't like hills on the TT bike!

Thats a good time. It's always nice to get the first one out of the way and have a target to aim for next time.

Hills are a nightmare on TT bikes. I never know if i'm faster to stay low and spin up or to stand up and push a big gear. I always hit my knees on the bars as well when i try standing up :( short frame and wide, wing-shape bars.

I'm not sure if the pain I get after a few miles is pressure or friction. Probably a combination of the both. I've ordered some Assos chamois creme to see if the stuff really does help. I hope it does!!

I'm in Wimbledon and wouldn't mind doing a Richmond park ride sometime with people here if they're interested? Think I'll join a club soon but have to get a bit fitter first, seen a fair few London Dynamo jersey's around Richmond park.

It's only my opinion of course, but your name makes me think of Dynamo.

Biggest club in London apparently but no idea how many members they have. Have had cause to contact them a couple of times through their website about their riders behaviour (this is what their management recommend) but with no response so far.

One decided my car was a resting post at the lights so he didn't have to unclip and got arsey when I told him to get off.
