I've noticed today that my battery life seems better on LP7 than CheckROM v6. 55% after nearly 10 hours, not much usage but 30 mins playing Final Fantasy VII and signed into Skype all day. Used to be more like 30% at this point before.

Yeah LP7 is definitely better for battery than any GB ROM out the box. I'm on 56% right now and that's with the satnav usage this morning testing out Navfree.
 
I've been thinking about getting a Galaxy S II on contract but I read an article that says the next line of Androids are about to drop. Anyone know more about this? I really need a new phone.

Loads of threads in here about the new phones due out. Never ending story with mobiles at the moment though.
 
There's a lot of positive reports from the guys at XDA regarding this new XWLP3 firmware, loads of old reported bugs ironed out and according to the build date it was completed only last Friday - I'm tempted to give it a shot myself.

On the subject of the official ICS 4 being released for us un-branded users, I've got a feeling that we won't see ICS now until April at least.

I'm really not that bothered about ICS - happy that it's coming but it's really is not adding much to the SGS2 experience as its polished as it is.
 
Assuming the '2 texts on 3rd-party messaging apps' issue still exists in ICS, I guess this affects Handcent too?

That's all that's stopping me from losing CM7 at the moment.
 
Just flashed Intratech's XWLP3 via Odin, looking good so far, ICS is a little different from GB, but not much, will see how it goes, though missing the JKay mod...
 
Hi, having a problem recording video. When I hit record the timer appears but recording doesn't start. I have plenty of room on phone and memory card. Any ideas?

Same here - I'm on Villianrom 3 / ICS domination theme and having read all the issues around ICS in no rush to "upgrade". Rock solid stability, decent battery life and everything works.
