Apple Early Adopters (aka Suckers) stuffed . . . again

I don't know why people have to hate Apple. Actually, you can hate Apple but I don't see why they have to tell the world about it.

It's like some people hate marmite, but do you see them form such hatred about that they tell the world whenever the topic of marmite comes up and hate the company that makes it? Or do they simply walk by it in the supermarket and nt pay attention to it.

I "prefer" apple's touch screen, both it's colour palette and it's responsiveness compared to other touchscreen. But I do not go on how I "hate" other devices because of this one single flaw. You can argue even since the screen is the first point of contact for the end user, it is the most important feature and an absolute deal breaker for all smartphone, to a point that if it's not good, the rest of the device fails.

But nooooo, people seem to pick on that one point, the "restriction", something that most people don't care and thinks Apple somehow owe them a duty to provide this feature because of some god given right.

It is just this terrible human nature of hating someone or a company that is successful. It was Microsoft in the 90's, now is Apple.

This is pretty much spot on. Some people really hate Apple to the extreme and usually their opinions are based on absolute nonsense as well.

I don't really feel the need to justify my points to be honest because it's impossible to get through to someone who has been suckered in by Apples rubbish.
Ah, the old "I don't have to justify the rubbish I spout" line. You like to talk specs? Find something with equivalent specs to the MacBook Air for cheaper. Remember, size, weight, screen and battery life are also specs.

... Actually, I won't, because I have better things to do.
Those "better things" appear to consist of throwing a hissy fit when someone has the temerity to point out that Apple's advertising for the iPad 3 is downright misleading and turning the thread into a tedious ramble on how wonderful the iPhone is - strange, very very strange ;)

I have a iPhone and iPad. Would I ever buy a apple laptop or desktop no thanks.
I love my apple mobile devices but I do think the laptops and desktops are way over priced for what they are.
I don't think of myself as an apple fan but I do find they do what they do very well.

And nice of you to pick and choose THAT line and ignored the post that i posted DIRECTLY at you with regard to another poster who is from Perth in which your original post directly applies.

The apple fanboys at work make me laugh,
They won't hear a bad word about there precious iphones and act like steve jobs was their best mate yet all have jailbroken phones and downloaded everything illegally effectively stealing from the company they claim to love so much. how ironic:rolleyes:

I do love my iPhone and iPad and both are jail broken but I do not download apps illegally, I have jail broken it so I can install things and features that I feel apple should have included for me.

However saying that I feel that ATM my phone ( with the tweaks I have installed ) make it the best phone out there at the moment ( especially for MY needs )

But in my opinion I don't see this as any diffrent than say, windows, that as an example have a cd burning feature installed yet people install their own, the same goes for email client. Windows doesn't come with one bundled you have to purchase it ( outlook ) the only diffrence is that windows openly allows you to install these things and apple delibratley blocks you from doing so.

Just another case of the "I made a mistake, but I refuse to accept it was my fault" attitude.

The Android fanboys are just as bad. It's a good job that the only place they meet is here as it gives us all a laugh.

For most people, the majority of 'restrictions' are a non-issue.

Granted, but the point I made has relevance

But nooooo, people seem to pick on that one point, the "restriction", something that most people don't care and thinks Apple somehow owe them a duty to provide this feature because of some god given right.

Well yes and no. Taking the simple element I mentioned re: Bluetooth, Apple have actually removed a function that BT provides natively. They haven't decided not to implement it, they have actually proactively disabled it in some circumstances as you can still Bluetooth other files IIRC which means the file transfer function IS available.

I know it's a simple thing (the BT transfer) but it's the easiest way to highlight my point. I dare say there is other silly restrictions like this. By "silly", I don't mean the restrictions they have put in place to protect the OS from malware etc.

Edit: to appease the fanboys - I have never actually slated Apple products and said they are crap. I have simple stated that one of the things I don't like about them is how they have some silly restrictions. That is not the same as saying their devices are crap. <----- this disclaimer is in place to appease the people that cannot accept someone else's VALID opinion as it goes against theirs and in hope they will read it before launching into a tirade against me

I do think that Apple should drop the advertisement of 4G feature outside of the US and Canada, even when the UK is set to have a LTE network deployed its frequencies aren't supported by the device.

I'm no Apple basher, they have their plus points (Good looking well built hardware) and the negative points (Over baring company that wants to lock people into 'their view of the world)

Having said that I do own a iPhone 4S and the points above is from my own experience of it and a 3GS.

My only other beef with Apple is their crappy advertising campaigns at times basically taking the packin mick out of windows users.

My issue with Apple products is that in my experience they are often inferior to the alternatives. From studying hardware and software stability/robustness between many dozens of friends and colleagues as well as my own I know that MacOSX is less stable than windows and much less stable than linux, and that Apple products seem to fail more than other brands. Macbook pros seem to have several times the hardware issues than Thinkpads of dell laptops for instance, and macosx will have a fatal error several times more frequently than linux or windows 7.

Apple also really extract the urine with their prices for additional memory/SSD upgrades etc. Really extortionate pricing.

Then I am also surprised at the lack of support for professional software. i experience this a lot in linux which is why I dual boot with windows XP or 7, but if Mac doesn't support the software either then what is the purpose , I may as well use go back to dual booting linux + windows rather than Mac + windows. For development work it just just so far behind linux and everything is much more of a struggle with many compatibility errors and horrible linking errors you just don't get

I've been using an imac at work for the last 3 months and I really wanted to like MacOSX because I have issues with both linux and windows and it is sometimes a pain to have to dual boot or run windows inside a VM. Sadly MacOSX just doesn't solve any of the issue and just crates more meaning you have to run linux and windows in a Vm while running Mac. MacOSX certainly does some things very nciuely but others are just really primitive.

Wiaint for a quite day at work and i will clean macosx off the computer and install the latest Kubuntu+ windows XP.

The PRODUCT has 4G capabilites no matter where you put it!!!!!
The COUNTRY may not have 4G capabilities, what fault of Apple's is that?

For crying out lound, can you people not read? Australia DOES have a 4G LTE network run by Telstra.

There has been a lot of advertising by Telstra for 4G services and 4G devices lately. It's hardly unrealistic to purchase a 4G device and use a SIM card from a 4G provider on a network with 4G coverage and expect it to work, is it?

Their computers always looks extortionate since they only update every year or so and do not fluctuate with current pricing. Buy it when it first come out however...its a different story. When Apple releases the next iMac with Ivy bridge, lets to a side by side real break down cost of a Windows built equivalent.

CPU, RAM, motherboard etc.

oh, and a 27" IPS screen and also budget in wireless keyboard and mouse in the build. Then we will see how "extortionate" it is.

p.s. Don't forget the OS, not a student copy.

I wasn't saying anything about the full system price of a base model. Just if you want to upgrade from say 4Gb to 8GB of memory when speccing a new imac or macbook the upgrade cost is insane relative to both the retail cost of the memory and the cost that competitors charge for the same upgrade.

But that is exactly where Apple makes their money these days. The days where they could charge massively inflated prices for their base computer have slowly passed so now the base price looks not too bad, but if you want that extra memory or that SSD, boy do you pay for it. veyr high markup.

As for OS, that is not really an argument. I can buy a computer without an OS and install linux for free, so the cost of a MacOSX license is indeed needed to make a fair comparison.
