Mcdonalds burgers

Great! But excuse me if I don't totally believe McD's marketing hype..

My best friend is a manager in a meat processing factory and they supply Waitrose, Sainsburys et al....with lots of different meat cuts/ready made meals....so I know the difference between what the claims are and what happens in reality :D

We wouldn't eat anything if we saw what happened to all our mass produced food, so best not to know ;)

Possibly but im sure they are checked up on at some stage. They couldnt get away with completely lying.

The whole supersize me gave them a massive kick in the arse and theyve got a lot better. Think I remember reading a double cheeseburger has less calories and more nutrients than a sandwich from M&S ironically.

Just because you get your food from a fancier name and pay more - doesn't mean its better.

I do believe the beef is decent enough quality - ive eaten more than enough of it.

We're proud that all of our beef comes from cattle raised on British and Irish farms.

In 2010, over 16,000 farmers supplied our beef - making us one of the biggest purchasers of British and Irish beef.

All our burgers are made from 100% beef, supplied by farms accredited by nationally recognised farm assurance schemes.

Only whole cuts of beef from forequarter and flank go into our burgers, with nothing added but a pinch of salt and pepper after cooking.

You think they could make these claims if it wasn't true? They'd have been found out a long time ago and would be in serious trouble if it were the case.

What you get in McDonalds burgers and BK burgers is 100% beef. You don't get the pink slime that up until recently was still used in the USA.

Pretty standard these day.

Make stuff smaller to make more money
Make stuff smaller because you only have the customers best interests at heart and don't want them to overeat.
Make stuff smaller because for a week 2 years ago a key ingredient cost a few pence more so we have made your product smaller rather than increase the price because we are always thinking of the customer.

Take your pick.

They get away with it becasue what they pimp out is not actually a lie. Just because you say its beef, doesn't mean its a good cut. Beef = derived from a cow. Cows have more than meat on them than just the classic cuts of Rump, Sirloin, Fillet, Brisket, Topside.

Now if you are naive enough to think any of those cuts end up in a 2 bob burger then you are a dream for every McDonald's advertising manager.

Just because it tastes good doesn;t mean its a good cut. If you season a lump of dog crap well enough even that can be made to taste good......

I am not surprised this country has an obesity problem

The main thing I remember from Supersize me was the statement that the McD Salad had more sugar in it than some of their deserts! :D

But I don't mean to highlight McD solely, just the thread was about them. Most mass produced food (especially of the cheap fast variety) in supermarkets and takeaways is generally full of too much fat, salt, sugar because it's cheap and makes it taste good, but isn't very good for you.

forequarter [ˈfɔːˌkwɔːtə]
n
(Cookery) the front portion, including the leg, of half of a carcass, as of beef or lamb

forequarter = anything in the front end of the cow, lst I checked there a lot of other crap up there including a few organs !!!

Im certainly not saying its the best cut, I just mean its not the crap quality people are coming up with.

As for the obesity, this is totally in the hands of the person eating the burger. If you are obese thats a personal dilemma and not the underlying fault of a burger provider.

My favourite mcds burger is a double big tasty using lots of extra cheese! Yum yum. Im a rocking 12 and a half stone at 6ft 4. Heaven forbid. Everything in moderation.

Bring back the original Megamac meals and then well start talking. Back in the day, two of those for lunch in a meal and you didn't need to eat until the following day. You were constipated for a week but at least your hunger was satisfied.

Burger King currently offer a different burger everyday for £2 so once a week I get a Rodeo Burger for lunch. Perfect for me, I don't want calorie dense chips and drink. I'll never go back to McDonalds!*

*unless I'm very drunk, but we all know that doesn't count

I hate the place! I only go in there because my kids will drag me in and I always try and bribe them with an alternative like Subway or Greggs... dont always work tho :( lol.

I'm sorry but what? You're the parent, tell them to eat what you give them or they'll starve!

hahah, indeed calories when your drunk don't count. If I can't remember them my body obviously won't either and it justs goes right through me!

They are smaller, this year our store got smaller buns and over time our patties have become smaller.

Management said whilst the weight technically remains the same the burgers are more dense and tightly packed, this is an easier and cheaper production method with the meat. It's not MRC but certain cuts minced and pressed.

Smaller burgers means you can ship more at once, saving money on their second most expensive cost, transport.

It's all about the monies there.

nothing wrong with sugar,

the only (possibly) bad things are the non-real food things they may add llike preservatives....

in moderation (possibly cancer causing aditives aside) they are fine...

Nothing wrong with sugar? I think you will find thats why we have so many obese people on the planet.

Im more concerned because he thinks Subway or Greggs is a good alternative lol.

Yea exactly, its still cheap ****.

I do enjoy a big mac from time to time though :D
