Im trying to find out about Mbit/s , my newsgroup says that i will have a download speed of 10 Mbit/s but how fast would that be ?

No.

You'e on 20mb (megabit) broadband and your max download speed is 2.3MB/s (megabytes).

There are 8bits to every byte.

Usually Megabits, Just to confuse people into thinking they get many megabites, but they do not...

It’s not done to confuse people, it’s just how network speeds are quoted. It’s true of almost anything network related.

I always thought it was a sneaky way to boast speed. Since they both are MBs.

Although it's not intended to create confusion, it obviously does. It doesn’t help that most broadband speeds are just quoted as the fairly meaningless ‘Meg’.

50 Mbps / 8 = 6250 KB/s = 6.25 MB/s...
