i7 CPU not showing 8 cores in Win7 Task Manager

Hi,
After installation I see 8 CPU's in Windows Task Manager.
I install a few OC utilities - includiogn the Gigabyte and Intel tweaker, reboot and now I only see four cores......

I remove the aforementioned applications. I still see only four cores......

What did I do..... ????

you need to turn hyperthreading on in the bios.

Thanks for your reply- but I haven't disabled it ! Not even been into the bios today....

Maybe not but go to the bios and check the settings, takes a few minutes only.

Sorted it. Guess what....

run>>msconfig>>boot>>advanced_options>>number of processors

I manually set this to four since I read somewhere that when windows boots it only uses one core. And this is where you change that behaviour. So I set this to four so it uses four cores during boot. Guess what? this limits it to four full stop!!!!
