Mega millions shared between 3 people.

Really:confused: why.

I don't actually want anything more of my life at this current point in time. I have a nice girlfriend and family i have no debts and I'm living outside of the U.K. I eat well and have fun every day. I cant actually think of anything else I would want at this present moment in time.

Nice one man,you sound very content with your life, thumbs up.:)

Personally I'd be happier creating something and earning say 10 million than simply winning 100 million or so from a lottery.

At least you'd likely be much more satisfied that you'd done something with your life, can afford most things and if you want to holiday on a super yacht or fly in a private jet you can still charter one. No need to spend millions on it and employ a full time pilot/skipper etc...

Financial security for life, a nice house and freedom to do whatever you want doesn't have to cost 100 million.

How is a private yacht going to do anything for you ? apart from make your epeen and social peen bigger ?

But without money you wouldn't have gotten any of that. Money got you to where you are today.

If someone enjoys having a yacht then it would make them happy. Don't you have any hobies or interests?

I don't think i explained myself good enough. If you liked sailing already surely you would be in a club or have a small boat.

Sailing is very enjoyable, and a slightly larger yacht is even more enjoyable and comfortable. I'm not talking million dollar gin palace but a 50ft yacht that could conceivably sail around the world. I used to sail when I was younger on tiny dingies. My aunt sold up everything and built a yacht which usher only home, makes me very jealous sailing from port to port as you please. My parents used to own a small yacht and their stories about crossing the channel to gurnsey etc fascinated me. Would love a yacht and the time to do similar trips.

similar items I would love is a small plane like a Cessna. over the last 10 years I have lots of friends who flew small planes and went on many trips and flew a little myself. In Switzerland people usually joined clubs but it seems in the US you just buy a plane. 500k to get a plane suitable to fly with a family or a couple of friends just fun. Flying is a lot of fun.

Not if it was too expensive to buy a boat or you didn't have enough time because you had to work.

There are a lot of things I really want to doubt will never do them while I am working 5 days a week!

What about your parents?

a lot of people can't handle the responsiility of that much money for starters. Then there's also the problem of having no purpose or direction in your life if you have everything you ever wanted and don't need to work there's nothing to strive for. Thus without meaning in your life or the will to attain something greater than your present circumstance you can end up doing copious amounts of drugs and get depressed, eventually killing yourself.

It's all about finding a purpose for your life more than attaining material goods which in the present capitalist, consumerist society we live in a lot of people cannot cope. Added to all this there's the pressure of other people wanting your money however they can get it, family issues associated with money and never being able to trust anyone again for fear they're only using you. A solution to this many take is to become a recluse, however humans are social animals and this can easily cause many a mental illness.

If you're not happy now you never will be simply because you have more items.

Money will likely change you as a person. Be it because others change how they act around you or you change who you are with, chances are you will be a slightly different person because you have a serious amount of cash. Especially true if you have always been quite poor.

I'd love to win a serious amount. I'm not sure how it would change me as a person, but it would allow me to do things that I really want to do now and I suspect I'll have a more enjoyable lifestyle. Though, that being said I suppose the rich can plateau in much the way anyone else can.

My American colleagues said about 50% adding bth federal and state taxe, but it varies by state.

Wow, that's crazy. Thought it would be around 20% tops. It's good it's tax free over here!

Life has no meaning other than live, eat, sleep, excrete, reproduce, die.

Everything else is meaningless, but money makes everything better in our capitalist society.

Wow, that tax is crazy!
Yachts and stuff might go some way towards filling the void of separation and lack of human contact in their hearts, but I have a much better way to get away from it all:

I could buy an island and live there with a few pigs for company or maybe some dwarf elephants. I'd invest the rest of my money in technology stuff, maybe try and get a little stake in fusion power somehow, and leave instructions for people to come and get me in 10 years or whenever the technology stuff turned up something exciting. I'd then look at how the world had moved on in the time I'd been away, and then probably go back to my island.

I'd also pay someone to abduct a woman matched to me by some psychologist and drop them at the island and see if we got along (obviously they wouldn't be informed of what was going on). If not then I'd have a little 'return' button and the abductor would come and replace them with a different woman. Then eventually I'd be able to happily live out my days with a nice defacto wife and the friendly herd of pigs/dwarf elephants.

Hmmm, I wonder what we'd do with any kids? this requires further thought.

What an idyllic existence.

I'm confused

First the OP is saying he thinks they will be very happy, then he follows up with the opposite?

originally I thought the initial post was being sarcastic, but there weren't any sarcasm tasgs so what's going on?

As has been said, the right amount of money to not have to worry about money would indeed contribute to my overall happiness and peace of mind.

If I won a sum of money like that I would buy property outright to allow people who are struggling financially (not just family or friends) to have somewhere to stay for a low amount - enough to cover maintenance/ costs, I don't think I'd give out money as it would probably be wasted.

That's sort of my point - owning something extravagant like that, which you'd not use to often, is rather pointless when you could have just as much fun say hiring one for a week with some mates.
