What film did you watch last night?

This Must Be The Place (2011)

I nearly gave up on this fantastic film after only half an hour as the beginning and style is very slow and unusual, however stick with it and you'll be rewarded with a fantastic experience that I'm sure is going to turn into a cult classic.
Sean Penn was stunning as usual. 8.5/10

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011)

A solid film if a little cheesy / sentimental, that said I did enjoy it and give it a solid 7/10.

Daylight

Extremely freaky situation occured. I've just been to Nepal trekking and returned home last Thursday. 8pm Thursday night I go into a weird spasm then from then on have this horrible fever with the worst headache i've ever had. Sunday night I watch Daylight.

Quote from film from the elderly couple who's son died: 'he was trekking in Nepal and caught a fever'

My heart sank...lol.

Turns out it was just exhaustion from being up 4 days straght but man - what a random line to be in the film i picked out to watch!!!!!!!

I remember when he was married to Madonna.
Nobody really took him serious at that time.
I have to say though, right now, he is one of the best actors in Hollywood.
He can pretty much play any role he chooses to play and won't look out of place. Good guy. Helpless guy. Bad guy. Gay guy. Transvestite. I don't there is a role that he cannot play and do well.

Sean Penn is pretty much rock solid these days and I would put him up there with Leo Di Caprio and Edward Norton.

Dude, at what stage did you realise that staying awake for 4 days straight could make you ill?

Just your info, sleep is an absolute requirement for your body and mind to recharge. If you cant get REM sleep, take a 15 minute power nap hear and there and should suffice. Just avoid staying awake for multiple days on the trot.

;)

Killer Eiite - 8/10

The 1 with Statham/De Niro was actually really good, story was solid with plenty of twists and turns that keep you guessing and entertaining fight scenes.

Machine Gun Preacher...watched it last night with the missus and wasn't too bad a movie tbf...missus liked it more than I did...just didn't take to Gerrard Butler all that much...he doesn't do a very good American accent...7/10 for me.

Just something about it. Vivid memories of being a 12 year old boy and learning about his death whilst at York railway museum.

Seeing him be so dispondent that weekend.

:(

X-Men First Class.

7/10.

Enjoyed it as a film in its own right, totally suppressing the comics-geek in me (Angel? A woman with fairy wings?). Loved the 5 second Wolverine cameo :)

The Darkest Hour

Not bad for 30 mins then went down hill fast.

There was a bit where they were on a boat and a building collapsed. They all ended up In the water for 2-3 mins. Then all of a sudden the lass is missing and a flair goes up and she’s miles away hiding in a bus when the sub they were trying to get on was 50 yards away WTF ????

The Darkest Hour - 8/10 - I don't think that many people will like this but I was really gripped by it (not even a numb bum!).

While Alien invasions are not an original concept :D I though this one had enough new twists to keep it very entertaining and except for a few plot issues (mentioned in the spoiler above) I thought it was well executed and virtually every actor did a fantastic job of making you care about the people on screen although they battled a script that wasn't great in places.

Agree that Sean Penn is one of the best actors in Hollywood, but he was one of the best before DiCaprio and Norton even made it.
