Dota 2 - Steam

You make it sound like I'm making money. I'm not charging anything therefore the use of it is up to me.

TNA has the account info atm due to being the only person whose trusted me and/or added me on Steam.

I assume everyone has their own steam account so they can always get in touch with me if it's being hogged (If the info is given out to more people). I'll usually prefer someone to be playing with me and I'll let whoever is using it finish their current match.

EDIT: Seeing as we're all adults it'd be smart to contact me on steam before logging into the account to prevent someone being kicked off (not sure if that happens). It won't be given out to so many people that it's being fought over.

Sorry I just wanted more info on how exactly you where doing it. It is nice of you though to do this.

I think I sent you a trust, not sure if I did this correctly because I have never done that before.

Been out the loop a bit on this thread recently but I just thougth there are some things you guys might be interested that I don't think have been mentioned:

1) There is a tutorial system that hasn't been implemented into the demo but the icon for it is there.

2) There is also an unimplimented mentor system (like tf2 I guess).

3) There is a practice game system that hasn't been implimented either.

Provided people accept that they are noobs and use these it should really aid the pub gaming. But I agree, in the communities current state I can no longer stand to play pub games any more. I've gone on a 15 game losing streak and it's just killed my want to play the game any more now at the moment. Having to put up with support people taking damage items or a team full of carrys or people who feed if they don't get their own way or go afk or DC.

Probably only about 3 of those games I would have said we were outplayed rather than just didn't even attempt to win. I figured on the last game that I played that I'd just take the OP AM and carry the team but they couldn't even hold out long enough to not have given up almost all the towers come the 25-30min mark and AM doesn't get into the game till 40min, and that's with good farm. Worst of all was the abuse of them giving me grief for not getting into team fights as a HARD CARRY when it was like 10min in.

I think its just the community for all types of games like this. LoL and HoN are exactly the same. I am currently getting a team up together for LoL with my friends. 1 of them coming round tonight with my brother to teach him how to play. And probs go over to Dota 2 when/if we get an invite before the release.

Thank you very much Kamwah. I am out at the moment and won't have access to my computer to reply until tonight. Posting from my low resolution phone right now :)

I will add you to steam also when I get home.

Again thank you for kind gesture kamwah, I am back from work and trying to access the account but I need the code to authorize my computer.

Ok here's the 'guide' to receiving access and using the Dota2 account.

You must add me on Steam (KurisuViBritannia) or trust me your information.

When you log in for the first time you'll need a code due to Steamguard. This goes to my secondary e-mail which I guess is a failsafe because that way you need to get in contact with me before you go on.

Once you're on it try and be as considerate as possible, games take anything from 30-60mins and sometimes longer. Everyone who has access should have the Dota account and eachothers personal steams so they can keep in contact.

Also make sure to have the screen name as your OCUK username.

I played a couple of games last night thanks to Kamwah. Me and TNA have set up our playtime really well. I work he doesnt, He plays during the day - I play at night haha I was up till 2am this morning and now sat at work wanting to play even more.

Does anyone have any tips on who to play? I am starting out playing this and know a fair bit on the basics and warding with runes. Just the selection is rather big and I never know who to pick.

Overworld destroyer is pretty basic, if you can farm efficiently you will do very well with him. He effectively has unlimited power once you get his mana to about 1200 and his passive to level 3 or 4. Then you can auto attack with his first spell and do massive damage to people.

Yeah I had my first ever game with him, but as I say it was my first match. But I did play against someone who was farming his Q ability. :(

I tried the Faceless Void But mainly just got assists lol. Would you recommend anyone else. I want to mix things up abit

EDIT: Also that lone druid I have had 2 games with him and he was a right pain to down :(

Lone Druid is quite hard to play as its essentially playing two champions at once.
I find the easiest to play are Axe,Bloodseeker,Jakiro,Drow Ranger. There are a few others but I haven't got round to playing a lot of them yet.

Lol I wasnt playing Lone Druid, the other team was. Just a right pain to get down ha-ha still had fun with it like. I will keep them in mind next time. Just to grasp things :) thanks.

I had one game, was a bit clueless, but got a hang of some things by the end. The thing I need to learn is items, which ones to buy and when.

Btw. I am thinking of going Zeus, Razor or Lich. So far know most about zeus.

I was the same mate, but started to get used to the items. I have looked at a lot of videos in the past so I know what to have at the very start ha-ha.

But not much after :(

I got my brother into LoL so might try and get him looking into it. Videos and that.

When I said unlimited power I meant mana haha, very tired today. Didn't get a whole lotta sleep last night :P haha.

People who use their abilities to farm don't know how to farm properly and you can wait for them to expend their mana and gank them.

First things first is to learn what items to buy at the start, don't really know how much you know about the game so I'll lay down some basic things:

1) Salve potion and a tango. With only a few exceptions you need these. As someone new to the game you will even more likely need them. Don't buy more than just one of each though, need to learn to avoid damage not cover it up.

You will almost certainly want to buy 3 iron branches. 53 gold for +1 to three attributes is the best gold to stat ratio item in the game and turns into a magic wand.

Circlets are sometimes bought too. A stout shield is great on some squishy mele heroes too, such as anti-mage. A quelling blade can be bought for mele heroes as well to help last hitting, it doesn't increase damage vs other heroes though. It's recommending on farm heavy mele heroes like bloodseeker, you might consider it on antimage as well for example. Generally though it's best to learn to last hit properly and save the money.

Clarity potions are often bought as well on a strength hero that has a low mana pool. For example, earthshaker is useless if he can't drop that stun so he needs to have that mana ready. At 50 gold there is no harm having one or two.

Always aim to buy survival stat items first. For example, you want your braced boots and you buy the boots first generally for the extra speed, then you want the strength belt regardless of if you are an intel hero because +str beats +attack speed early game when hp is low.

2) Do not buy any of the following with your starting gold:

-Boots (stats are the start of the game make last hitting easier and allow you to take that extra damage)

-Bottle (some players will do this when they take mid. It's a rookie move with a few exceptions)

- Magic wand (While a staple in many players it is useless at the start of the game because people aren't using abilities much and money is better spent elsewhere)

-Generally any big items like rings of basilis. There are exceptions to this, mainly when jungling. If you are in a lane, you need your clairty potion and tango.

3) As I'm pretty sure you already know, wards and courier win games.

Razor is a pretty easy hero to learn and very powerful late game. He's horrible to lane against. Zeus is so squishy that I personally would suggest against him for new players.

Natures prophet is easy to play and a great asset to a team when played correctly but I have seen him played uselessly as well.

Thanks for that, I do have a general knowledge but I am sure others will benefit from this. It was just the general Items what to get and what not to get. I did learn from videos to buy the branches and other items :)

Do you think its worth starting an offical Thread With links in the opening post and a noobish guide for others who are getting invites that are new to the game.

Such as starting Heroes (one from each catagory)
Vidoe links
Item Guide
Guide Links
Mumble Server?
Steam accounts for team games.

Change this thread to a Beta access key sorta thing.

Worried that since this game has been/will be in beta for like a billion years, the gap in player skill once the game is finally released will be enormous.

More like because dota and lol have been around for several years there are people who know what theyre doing already.

If you want to be good at a game like this you need to put in learning time in and out of game.
