Would be nice but you might struggle to get 10 people together for it. You can of course play 4v4 and alike though it's not teaching you proper mechanics and would really give one team an advantage if they have a brood on their team.

If you wanna get to know the game before it's released so you feel like you know some things I really recommend watching purge's youtube videos. He's a decent player and he talks about what people are doing wrong etc as he plays. Then I'd suggest seeing join dota shout casts to get an idea of how a team should actually work together and what match ups on lanes work etc and then just do it :).

I suppose I probably underestimate the size of OCUK really. I'd probably actually be more interested playing teams of 5 than 10 players just because it's kind of nice going against the world and playing different people. Not to mention the need to get out of the low skill level games!

If you were selected from the Steam survey you got 3 keys. If you got gifted one of these you don't get any extra.

OcUK mumble used to be where it was at, but I've been away and it appears to be a bit quieter. Add me, [OcUK] g0rd and we'll get something going. I'm probably going to have a few games tonight.

I was selected, only got one key, nothing to give to friends.

I've only played one game online, half the people left in the first 2 minutes, I ended up having control 3 heroes at the same time not knowing what I'm doing. Died a ridiculous amount of times. That was 3 weeks ago, haven't touched it since.

I talk from experience mate. I have been playing for over 7 years now, and use to be an admin in Dota-league R.I.P. In every single game I always find out something new I can do. Plus it's a very fast game and should have a lot of map awareness. Kills do not count anything it's the stats behind it. If you enable console in every finished game you will have the statistics of all heroes that dealt how much damage,stuns,heals,slows they done to other players.

There were times I had 5 kills and 25 assists but i dealt 50k dmg when the 2nd guy who dealt most only has done 17k.

So in all fairness kills do not count.

In addition, you can go to your profiles and check your performance statistics for individual heroes.
 
Yea I agree there is a lot to it and it's a very strategic game where everyone can play their part but IMO all it takes is time and it'll nowhere take anyone half serious to learn the majority of it.

In a sense it is like SC2 where there is always shifts in what's common and new strats mean you've always got to learn something.

I'm really liking it despite the terrible community and hope I can get to competitive levels and find a team XD

People need to start dropping their Steam IDs because there's quite a few people saying they want to play with people on here but very little going on except on Mumble XD
