WHy make fusion device at home?

There is a fad of people making fusion devices at home now (see link). I wonder whats the benefits of it? Is it like a home generator that when fulled up makes lots of power at low cost? Please enlighten me on that. Ta

Why not? I don't think they are actually using it for energy but it's a pretty cool thing to do for a curious mind.

These home brews aren't for generating electricity. All they are to do is achieve fusion.

ah so then not to make fusion at home but nuclear reactor is the way forward if you want to make your own power at home. Right?

Well they don't make them to generate electricity. I think this is an apt time to paraphrase George Mallory. Why make a nuclear fusion reactor in your garage? Because you can.

But it is "making fusion". That's exactly what it is doing. It just doesn't produce electricity.

I imagine making helium from hydrogen is a pretty useful thing in itself, seeing as how helium is so rare on Earth compared to hydrogen.

Was thinking that a small nuclear device could power up my kick ass system for a while and be also green as it will save me a bob or two and ease off the gird... I am so good at coming up with good ideas like that.

Just like I got D 14 as its has been king of the hill for years! Another WIN for me!
