Guild Wars 2

The only problem I can see with WvWvW PvP is, how to stop people from re-rolling toons on a winning server. Also with world PVP, will we get the go against the French and Germans servers too? Cos that would be awesome.

Well, due to the balancing of it I don't see this mattering so much. If certain servers establish themselves as having the best players / guilds for WvW - you either know you're able and want to be there to get involved in that or you don't. I imagine most players will know that isn't for them and they would prefer to stay on their nice cosy realms which have been pitted against similar servers.

Theres always realms in any MMO that are crazily populated and others verging on being empty. Don't need WvW for that to occur :(

I'd hope that they'd try and keep all the servers relatively balanced regarding quantity of players, though easier said than done i guess.

That CJs site looks messy as hell, its not even listed in the official retailers on the GW2 site, is it legit?

Edit: They have some crazy cheap steam key prices too, it sounds to good to be true.

I don't think we've had any details on how the server population and division is going to actually be implemented have we?

IIRC the WvWvW servers change rather than always facing the same servers and knowing you're going to win/lose, it'll change to make sure you're against evenly matched servers.

Easily remedied already with the Home Server feature.

"Each account in Guild Wars 2 will have a home server. Power of the Mists bonuses apply to your character depending on the war score of your home server in the current World versus World match.

Home servers were implemented so that players could freely move between servers if they wished to play with friends, without allowing them to abuse the feature by moving to a server with a higher war score.

Moving to a new home server will be possible, but there will be a fee attached."

No... you really didn't know that?

YEah i remember reading somewhere there was no subscription so wasn't sure... How are they going to justify continuing to support the game if their only income will be via initial payments?

Surely nothing makes a company want to fix a game when they lose a few 1000's subscribers??

Guild Wars 1 has been a success and has had constant updates since day one, and is being supported with events even after the release of Guild Wars 2.

They have said previously that they'll combine initial box sales, microtransactions (similar to ones in GW1), and expansions as where they make their money.

Thats good, i personally would have no problem in paying a few quid a month if it meant having something that would be Wow.

Well the subs paid to companies like Blizzard or EA way, way, way surpass the amount it costs develop and maintain MMO games.

If you think BLizzard's Wow has been running for 7 years, with an average of 10 Million subs, each paying £8 per month, that totals, six billion seven hundred twenty million pounds........and Wow's development costs and maintenance doesnt even touch near that figure. (and that doesnt include the figure for the actual game sales and subsequent expansions)

Subs just make them more profit.

Guild Wars 2's system is designed so that the devs need to keep bringing out more content that users will be willing to pay for.....if its rubbish, they wont.

Micro transactions for Gems with real money, (which can be traded for in Game gold) also aid further development.

Subs dont make a good game.

This ^

Is why I liked Guildwars 1, I could play and take breaks unlike WoW when I played that I had to get the most out of that one month fee being tied to the game. I probably will never play a SUB game again, I like what they are doing with Guildwars 2 and it is easily the best MMO made to date.
