ebay fraud

So why isn't ebay prepared to refund his postage for returning the item, plus I'm assuming they won't refund the cost of delivery when he bought it? Effectively, Phil will have ended up spending over £40 and losing around 25% of that for buying a fake item. That's what Ebay call buyer protection?

I've no idea, that's just how they work.

You have more chance of getting a refund without returning it, which imho is what will happen.

I'm afraid it won't. He already returned it. Ebay sent this completely useless reply where not only do they not refund him postage, not only do they not ask him to destroy the item (yet it's ok to ask someone to destroy an antique violin) but they might not even take action against the conman:

"Thanks for getting in touch with eBay Customer Support about the memory stick (item) you bought from ********** that was not as described. I'm sorry to hear that the transaction did not go as expected and about the issue that you were asked to return the item.

As much as we wanted to cover the return postage cost, unfortunately it is not covered by our eBay Buyer Protection Programme. For significantly not as described cases in eBay, our policy is that buyers are responsible for paying return postage unless the buyer and seller have reached a different agreement.

Please note that under eBay Buyer Protection for Significantly Not as Described cases we will always ask you to return the item to your seller in order to get a refund. However, your complaint has been noted and, if appropriate, we will take action against the seller to ensure eBay remains a safe place to shop. However, as it's important that eBay maintains member privacy, we can't share details of the action we take.

eBay take these cases very seriously and you can be assured that we take into account several factors when investigating them. Because it isn’t possible for us to see the item, we have to make sure that we are checking all of the information presented to us.

Once the tracking information shows the item has been delivered, you'll receive the refund.

I realise this wasn't the answer you were looking for, but I trust I've been able to explain things clearly and I thank you in advance for your understanding.

Kind regards,
"

still waiting,, Ive sent the item back to the fraudster about a week ago and put the tracking number on the ebay form... I had I email today tho, saying...

"Upon checking on the case, we have seen that you failed to provide us a tracking number. Because of this, we will be putting your case on-hold for 3 days asking if your seller already have the item back. After the on-hold, we will decide on your case at once"

So I sent them a email back and given them what for, the blind bats.

My sister said I should have gone to trading standards and then I prob would have got all my money back plus getting "electronicsonlinestore1" guy in serious trouble aswel.

well done , finally , lol
you could ask the seller for your postage back and otherwise tell him you will leave negative feedback and make a nuisance of yourself and report him to anyone that will listen . He might go for that to get you out of his hair.
Dont post anything libelous though on his feedback like thief /conman etc. just say the usb stick is counterfeit /fake and does not work , do not buy of this man/company

He sounds like a right looney, as he said, that he's going to sell the penstick on when he gets it back. So I sent him.....

"Well that just goes to show what a lying sneaky cheat you are doesn't it. I feel very sorry for any one having to deal with you and i am doing everything in my power to make sure you cant do what you say you are going too. You are a very sorry example of a fellow human being"......

All he said to that was.......

"Thanks for buying :) feel free to buy again.".......

Ive done his negative feed back saying.... "flash drive was fake fake fake. Do not trust this seller very unpleasant person."

So I'll spread the word on here now....... NEVER BUY FROM "ELECTRONICSONLINESTORE1"

Just thought Id bring this thread up back from the grave, and let you know I have tried again and I have bought a "corsair voyager 32gb stick". It was another bargain, as it is a refurbished stick, but thins time its from a well known computer hardware etailer and the sticks are being sold from corsair aswel

This is how you receive it.....

With fake stuff, eBay are supposed to tell you to dispose of it due to something about it being illegal to send knowingly counterfeit goods in the post or something to that effect.

Thats was a long time you spent looking for that deal!

Yeah, well I wasn't in any rush to have 1, but its just good to have a decent sized/quality memstick lying around. There has been times I have wanted to move a lot of data about and doing it on a 2gb stick or over wirless, is a slow process.

They made me send it back to the fraudster:eek:

Phil2008, be a little careful each time you remove the cap. I've had two similar drives (genuine) and the main rubber sleeve has separated from the guts of the drive on both of them.
