USB 3.0 Port looks different

I've got some better pics

How about this...

There are versions of this laptop where the socket in question is USB 3.0 (and would be blue).

On the cut down version that doesn’t have USB 3.0 they need a USB 2.0 socket to fit in the same location. The socket they’ve selected for this role probably just happens to look a bit different. Or maybe it looks different because it’s a USB 2.0 socket that’s designed to solder to the same pads as a USB 3.0 socket?

That's a good way of looking at it, the extra clip on the floor of the port is strange though aswell. It is almost as if it's intended to do something else other than USB,

Just to update.

I contacted Acer tech support about this, the woman I spoke to didn't really seem to know much of what I was on about though.

She said the port I'm referring to is a dual firewire/USB Port.

Does this sound right? :S

Unlikely, and then only possible using proprietary cables. Does that laptop even have Firewire?

Someone on another forum said Looking at the pics I provided the usb port its self looks like it's been pushed upwards and wont work for very long. :S
