Crest whitening strips

I tried these shortly after my last post. The first strip looked like it didn't do anything, I tried another one the following day and I did start seeing results, by day 4 my teeth were noticably whiter. I don't smoke or drink a great deal of coffee so I don't think my teeth were overly stained before but these made a noticable difference to the whiteness.

When using them they did make my teeth extremely sensitive for a day or two. The colour appears to of returned to normal after a few months but overal I would defintely say they are worth it, I need to get round to starting them again.

Thanks for the info, I'll try another strip tomorrow or Saturday and pretend that 3 months have pasted.

Used these a few months back and was impressed with the results. I had fairly discoloured teeth and these really helped lighten them up. I found them very sensitive on my teeth though so could only use them once a day before bed and sometimes I'd wake up in the night with some minor toothache. I used the normal Crest whitening strips and might try using the 3D ones in the future.

All I'd say is don't expect miracles but for the amount they cost you can definitely expect value for money.

is the sensitivity just temporary, due to the dehydration? Or is it permanent and due to enamel being dissolved?

I'd like to whiten my teeth, but I'm terrified I'll cause some damage to them. It's only 4 teeth which bother me as well, the rest are pretty white, or too far back in my mouth to ever be seen. The reason is that I got 2 teeth pulled so my canines are now right next to my front 2 teeth. They're quite a bit yellower than the incisors so it looks quite bad.

Is there any way I could tear part of the strip off and just use it on these teeth?

If you don't have perfectly straight teeth, will this even work? Surely you'll end up missing a bit and look completely daft.

The strips only really cover around 8-10 teeth top and bottom I would say. I would get the 14% ones, the sensitivity, if any, is temporary, but, do it at night time before bed, and the sensitivity will (should) have gone by morning.

So there's no way you can do any permanent damage with these things?

Well, without entering a medical thread, I wouldn't have thought so. Just remember, AFAIK, the UK permissibly sellable peroxide amount is quite low which is why we don't get them over here naturally. They are big business in the states though.

Rather than a new thread, does anyone have any links to where i can get some of these? Found plenty of sites+eBay but would rather go with where fellow members have bought.

What ones did most people found was the best also? seems to be quite a few different versions.

Thanks :)

Yes if you get the bleach solution on your gums from a badly fitting seal this can have a carcinogenic effect. Hence why medical professionals advise getting a custom fitting mould from the dentist.

Hmm ok. I was thinking more of enamel weakening, or something like that. I know a lot of people get sensitivity afterwards. I read one horror story on yahoo answers of a guy who's teeth went all jagged after using these things. Maybe he just used them wrong.

Yes they can damage enamel, but generally only when used in excess.

The irony being the more you bleach your teeth the more prone they are to becoming stained as the enamel is weakened.

Just checked the DayWhite ACP that I use and it's 38% carbamide peroxide. No idea how strong the stuff is but 38% seems pretty damn high! :o

I was looking at the ACP after you suggested it a while back. How many applications do the cartridges last for and how long did you use them for to get results?

Also did you use the thermo moulds that you can get with them?

I think I got around 2-3 uses out of each cartridge, but it really depends on how much you want to use and what size you buy (mine are 1.3ml). I just did tiny blobs of it on the gum shield where each tooth sits.

Used it once a day for around 2 and a half weeks but didn't finish them all because I find it hard not to swallow for 30 mins :p. Teeth looked great although I could probably get better results if I used a fitted gum shield rather than the normal one I bought off eBay.
