Guild Wars 2

Someone please explain to me. Me and a friend have been trying to work this out.

I play a character and i level it to max level. Where is the end game?

They claim you don't need one or there isn't one, but yet what will i do when i hit max level? If the answer is pure PvP, then i'll just move along.

I imagine its the same end game as Daoc had. RvR (Or WvWvW in this), with some dungeoning etc. Not to everyones tastes admittedly, but for me, I spent more time at endgame in Daoc RvRing, than I ever did in any MMO at endgame running the same identical raid/dungeon over and over and over, so I'm happy with it :D

(On the other hand, UO had no endgame at all of any kind, but I spent 4 years in that and still think its one of the best MMOs I ever played, so take my reply with that pinch of relevance)

The point is that there's so much content to do whilst levelling and you get down-levelled to match the zone.

Getting all the skill points (to really max your char) will take quite a long time I imagine, it's not the same as other MMOs where if you go back to an early level, you 1 hit everything. Everything should still be a challenge for you at any level.

Also dungeons have challenge mode once you've completed story mode.

If you're looking for raids, you should look elsewhere, GW2 will be 5 man content all the way. If you enjoy maxing characters, being a completionist and being able to join your friends regardless of level (if you're level 30 and they're lvl1, you can join them in the starting zone and still get xp etc beause of the downlevelling).

Then quit the game and go away.

There shouldnt even have been 80 levels put into this game, even thats only there to appeal to the traditional RPGers, but if your still not going to appreciate it then stick to playing WoW.

FYI GW1 PVE has lasted me for well over 6 years, PLENTY of stuff to do at maximum level which you reach in just a few hours of playing, as well as casual PVPing on top.

Theres plenty of 'end game' in both PVE and PVP. Its just not the same kind of end game as WoW and other similar MMOs.

I wonder if this is a sign? The first 2 replies to my question is something i'd expect from the WoW forum.

Arrogant/cheap laugh replies without actually answering the question. Bodes well for the community.

I did answer your question. The game will be based around pure PvP for the most part. Therefore you won't like it.

What's hard to understand?

You were given legit answers.

If you dont like and arent going to PVP at all, then quit the game and go away when you are capped to level 80.

Theres nothing arrogant about it, its the truth that this game wont be your type of thing. It isnt a WoW clone.

Its similar to all the people on the GW2 fan forums coming over from games like WoW and doing nothing other than complaining about the lack of fees and lack of WoW - like content. If all you want to do is play WoW, then go and play WoW. You wont like GW2 and the community that enjoy GW / GW2 are fed up of seeing 'I dont like this game because its not WoW' type comments on an near daily basis.

The immense amount of difficulty you had producing that answer without being the typical OCUK class clown.

I wasn't being a 'clown'? It was a serious answer and answered your question very directly.

Guild Wars is a game focused around PvP - you probably know this, and you're asking if it's a game focused around PvP. Bizarre.

What is puzzling me is if i was to play this game, i put in lets say 2 months of work and i've "maxed" out my character in regards to completing all the zones and i've hit level 80 and i have all my 5 man dungeon gear. Would there only be PvP left for me to do?

Then you make another character and play a different storyline.

I dont think you will complete the game in 2 months IMO.

Arenanet's official stance on this is that they originally wanted their games to have an end. That way players arent forced to repeatedly grind just to feel that they have completed the game. Originally the plan was that players would complete Prophecies, then quit the game and play something else, and return to GW after an expansion came out.

Anet found that even after completing the prophecies campaign, lots of players still stuck around and wanted more PVE content, so they added in all the optional grind, titles, hard mode , dungeons etc etc etc. Originally you were meant to simply complete the game and then PVP. Now there is more than enough end game PVE content.

To complete everything in the first game now would take 12-18 months of playing hardcore. GW2 on launch is going to be significantly bigger than GW2 prophecies was. There will be PLENTY of gameplay available that is more than worth the asking price of this game.

More or less, yes. This is a PvP game, why is that puzzling?

Would you buy a driving game and then complain you can't play football on it?

This is not a game like WoW/SWTOR. You don't just level, farm gear and achievements and then chill and raid or whatever, it's a PvP game. Simple really.

Indeed, or this.

Son got his key from CJs last nite couple of hours after buying had no probs with registering,im gonna have a play next beta and might get it myself cos SWTOR sucks and i aint going back to WoW

OMG I just completed HM Shards of Orr ....

I went from 173 to 87 rainbow candy canes :x

My mistake for not playing a prot bonder :(

Fendi nin .... Aaaaarrrrggggghhhhhh you fracking BEAST!!!!

Haha, told ya :D He's an utter <<insert expletive>>. Hate that dungeon.

When you come to do Duncan take a lot of KD, if you can keep him on his back he goes down fast, and make sure you clear the room before you go to fight him!

Would have been soooo much easier if I prot bonder tanked, and then maintained prot bond on several heroes for the boss fight.

I was flagging my heroes behind each mob, charging blindly in with prot spirit / spirit bond, and then drawing the melee agro into my hero range and tanking the ellys.

My triple healer backline couldnt even keep me alive  N/Rt healer, E/Mo protter, and Smiters Boon support with RoJ for the skellies and I still die through prot spirit + spirit bond, what the actual eff! Though the RoJ + Earth elly really dropped the skellies fast, when they didnt run out of range.

I'm contantly having to manual click spirit bond on the hero skill bar because they are too stupid to keep it on me while taking damage from 6 HM skellie wizards.

For duncan I'll definitely have to be an Emo, and I'll actually die less :D (pun).

Earthbind + lightning surge / gale KD lock instead of Emo .... hmmmm. I was going to duncan today, but now I'm downloading the Diablo 3 beta client so I'll have to wait till after the D3 beta weekend.
