Guild Wars 2

8PM, same as the stress test beta the other week.

Just need them to release the client so we can get it DL'd ready, as the stress beta was about 11.5GB.

Gutted hoped it would be first thing next friday so i could book they day off. Wont have any time over the weekend as im out in a party sat and daughters bday on sunday. ... If only it could have been over the iseries weekend.

What is puzzling me is if i was to play this game, i put in lets say 2 months of work and i've "maxed" out my character in regards to completing all the zones and i've hit level 80 and i have all my 5 man dungeon gear. Would there only be PvP left for me to do?

I don't know why people are saying this is a PvP game. It'll probably be the most balanced MMO out there in PvP, but that's not to say it doesn't have a great PvE game. It's like saying BF3 is a MP game and ignoring that it has a good SP too (game off the top of my head, I've not even played the whole SP campaign).

The game is designed to hold a lot of replay value in PvE, the dungeons and outdoors are both filled with dynamic events that you might see one time you run a dungeon, then next time it might be something else, giving you something new to see. Likewise, you might run through an area and nothing happens, then you go back later and there's an army attacking a village or something.

Also right from a low level the dungeons have "challenge" mode, so from the 2nd time onwards that you do a dungeon, it's going to be more difficult If you're a high level, instead of just one shotting everything, you can play with your friends and still get a challenge, xp, loot etc.

Couple that with it's probably going to take way more than 2 months to do everything, I think there's going to be plenty of value to the PvE side of the game.

This game really seems to have a lot more to offer than just PvP. You should watch some videos of the dynamic events.

No it's a brilliant, innovative, cutting edge idea!

Yup. GW1 was the only 'MMO' / Online RPG I've played where theres no queuing to play, nor any downtime when the game is updated, and free server switching.

No online MMO needs either, others only do it because they use long obsolete server methods, and keep on trying to justify them with ridiculous excuses.

It's because games like swtor are built with 3rd party engines that makes innovation that much harder to achieve. It's not there out of the box, and as they didn't build the engine themselves, it'd take a lot of dev time to get up to speed and to code, which they probably would only see as lost revenue. Arenanet built their engine from the ground up, so it's an easier task for them to perform, but not only that, they have the mindset of innovation = profit, rather than the stagnant copy/paste MMO#1 for $$$ corporate mindset.

Game updates in GW1 were great. No downtime at all. Blizzard need to take a leaf out of Arenanet's book. No need to downloaders etc. Game just updated itself.
