Ebay/Paypal seller issue

The debt collectors you just ignore, I did. There was no way I was going to deal with them when I was still in dispute with PayPal when I had a problem. You've been a victim of fraud, you have no debt to settle. The financial service authorities will sort it out for you if PayPal refuse to.

They have no power, at all.

ebay is just disgusting really it is, so is paypal.

I remember ebay being a lot better many years ago. But there is no alternative service which sucks. Hope you get it sorted OP.

I bought something ebay, £87 on April 2nd, hasnt turned up yet, seller keept saying hes going to send it, but never has, now he just ignores me.

Put a claim in and heard nothing yet :(

Just don't accept PayPal, or do collection only. If not, Friday-Ad/Recycle? :)

You have to accept PayPal.

This is terrible advice, you can't ignore a debt collector. They will catch up with you eventually whether that be via a CCJ which will absolutely wreck your credit rating.

You can just ignore them actually, until they actually start sending you letters saying they have warrants etc. However, if you tell them the amount is in dispute they can't really do anything. I've been through it all, debt collectors are easily ignorable.

and the anonymous email saying thanks for free gear?

without being harsh that mail means nothing. Paypal could just as easily say how do we know that the seller didn't just set up the spoof email account and send themselves this mail as a means to fabricate evidence in order to get money refunded against a legitimate claim / buyer dispute.

The only real proof is the dipsatch docket with the recorded weight of the parcel, everything else is here say unless you get a mail fromthe actual buyer on their actual ebay registerd email address saying thanks for the freebie.

Well after speaking to the bank, they said.... they cannot block it, all I can do is raise a dispute with the bank after paypal have taken it.

So fun times ahead I am sure.

Yeah your covered. Watch your balance daily, and if it goes out ring your bank and say it's been taken without your authorisation. It'll be back on your balance within a couple of days.

It makes no difference how big ebay/paypal think they are, your bank is responsible for the protection of your money, your bank can stop the transaction as long as it's within 48 hours AFTER they take it.

Even if you could remove the bank details from your account etc, you will still not be in the clear. PayPal won't just let it lie, they will call in the debt via debt collectors.

This is theft and a case for the police, it's beyond PayPal now.

PayPal debts are generally unenforcable. You don't sign any credit agreement, so it can't effect your credit rating. The worse they can do is take you to the small claims court, but I haven't heard of this ever happening, primarily because PayPal would most likely lose in the majority of cases.

All PayPal do if you have a negative balance is pester you with automated calls + letters for 6 months then give up. I had to endure this after some buyer submitted a false claim, but luckily I had already withdrawn the money to my bank account.
