7970 vs 480 SLI

Dave I have reported your post. Hopefully it will be deleted.

If you want to be petulant then please go and do it elsewhere. I find it quite disturbing how many people on this forum who class themselves as adults choose to act so childishly.

Lighten up pal, one minute your on your high horse preaching one way, then, when it suits you you're preaching the other way, make your mind up, and learn to relax and enjoy the funny things in life, like yourself.

There are 101 480 cooking images, like this one

Not seeing 480's available for £100 anywhere... Maybe you can get a one off deal but not something Joe Bloggs can do do max BF3 for £100. Just because you got one for that price doesn't mean that everyone can :p

Mate come on the 480 can easily be found for around £100, I found 2 lol. Bargains don't come and find you ;), I mean really how hard is it to look on Ebay or sellers forums, members markets etc.

Any Joe Bloggs can do that unless there like retarded

....I don't get it. What happened to the "OMGZORZ all you noobs are ignorantly accepting sub-par performance with your under 2GB vram cards!!!!1".

Maybe in his special ALXAndy world, but in everyone elses it's scorchio :p
And I wonder what his would be like on auto stock fan profile?

You could try reading the thread before you jump in acting like a two year old.

Then you wouldn't, you know? look like you are ignorant and hadn't read it properly.

Maybe you should try reading it too !!!oneoneoneoneeleven.

Or reading the actual thread where BF3 was tested and found to use up to 1.5gb vram.

Or were you another one who like, missed the point of the thread? you know? the fact it was put in place to prove that a 1.2gb 570 or a 560ti or ten did not have enough vram?

Oh !!!oneoneoneoneeleven.

Or maybe you should have read the bit where I said I no longer care, as when the next console comes out that does aliasing I will be done any way.

!!!oneoneoneoneeleven.

It doesn't really matter about 480sli vs 7970, because a single powerful card solution is always favourable.

Plus, you slated Nvidia Fermi when you had your 7970, then when you couldn't install/run/use it properly you slated that as well, are you for real?

Dirt 3. Max settings 4X aliasing.

7970 @ 1125mhz

Min FPS - 68

AVG FPS - 82

GTX 480 SLI stock

Min FPS - 85

AVG FPS - 107

GTX 480 SLI @ 800mhz

Min FPS - 92

AVG FPS - 114

That would be funny if you were correct.

Now take yourself off to the EVGA GTX 480 @ £184.99 thread set up by Gibbo and take a good read.

As for installing them properly? well, from the results it would definitely seem my 480s are working swimmingly. As for a single card being favourable? who to? you?

Because from where I am sitting the 7970 has won one set of benchmarks, and had it's backside handed to it all of the others.

I'll take the performance thanks, especially if it winds you up.

HD 7970 at stock "104 avg 90 minimum", shows you really don't know what you're doing, desperately clutching at straws to justify your move from 7970 to 480 sli.

Nice try man. Though that's incredibly flawed given that, you know? they are running a different system to me.

As for knowing what I am doing? is that the best you can do? Really? is that it?

Who knows Dave?

Maybe the poor results from Dirt 3 could have been down to the rubbish drivers AMD had released that I was using?

You know? the ones that were trounced by the ones after that made my PC bsod so I couldn't use them?

You remember? the ones you were boasting about when AMD released them because they improved BF3 performance.

Don't tell us though Dave ! you wrote those drivers because you are a god of moving sliders across in dumbed down apps like Afterburner?

You crack me up man. Keep going.

Your results are faulty, most stock 7970's will beat that

Taken the link away now King Dave of he knows how to get the best out of a broken driver?

I would quit whilst you were ahead.

Love the banter going on here. I've got 480's in SLI just running at stock on my RIIE and I'm very happy with it. Definitely going to skip this gen of hardware - besides, in order to get the best out of the 680's I'm going to have to get a new mobo, cpu etc, so I'll give it a year or so before I consider that. Maybe when I can get a dual CPU Xeon rig that overclocks like the SR-2, but with the Sandy-E or Ivy-E technology....
