Bahrain Grand Prix 2012, Sakhir - Race 4/20

Good point. That kind of got missed out with the front runners mixing it up and the FIs being ignored.

Vergne hasn't yet showed much of the promise he was hyped to have.

I'm happy enough for Vettel to win it and Lewis come second.

Would prefer it the other way around though, Hot track temperatures suiting the Redbull?

Here's a thought.
MSc's car was broken, which is why he didnt go out again.
Fine, that would make sense.

But, if his car was defective, why were the Merc team personnel waiting around? Why was MSc still sitting in his car? Surely if a car is defective, there is usually a hive of activity around the car, while they try and fix the problem. From what I saw, the garage were really relaxed and MSc was sitting in car, right until the point he was knocked out.

Why were Merc not trying to fix the car?

Maybe they could not fix it and he was going to run without DRS? maybe they did already fix it but it was too late to get out and do an out lap?

To me, it looked like MSc had done his banker lap.
Then he decided to risk not going out again (to save tyres).
He was sitting in his car waiting for Q2.
His team werent working to fix the car because there wasn't too much wrong with it (perhaps there was an issue with DRS, but it wasnt a big deal).
Then, when he was in 18th in Q1, he was surprised and it was too late for him to get another lap in.
At this point, he got out of the car.

The above would make more sense.

It just seems strange to me that if his car was broken, why were the mechanics not frantically trying to fix the car (which is what normally happens). And why was he calmly sitting in his car, as if he was waiting to go out again.

Anyway, its no big deal. I just thought it was strange...that's all.

"Nooooooo vettel you ****" pretty much sums up me and my mum watching quali :p

I'll be happy so long as he doesn't run away with it though and we see a good race for 1st

If anything RBR's race pace this year has been more impressive than their qualifying pace, so I'm expecting them to be fully competitive tomorrow, rather than falling back as some others have suggested.

This is an interesting point.

If the first 3 races are anything to go by, RBR should be more competitive (compared with McLaren), in the race.

you missed the bit where people were scrambling around the back of the car? presumably with the drs mechanism endplate covers off

acording to AMUS the metal wire in the drs mechanism was broke

I did miss this.
But were they attempting to fix it or did they just have the cover off, with no mechanics actually working on it?
