***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

meh im getting bored :D i wont buy the phone any time soon but it still annoys me getting teased like that.. may 3rd.. "meet the new galaxy june 20th"

Samsung are definitely going to town with the hype and advertising for this device. I guess that means it'll be avoided by Android users since we all know they don't succumb to any sort of hype or advertising...

...And in reality, this will probably be the best Android phone on the black, and combined with serious amounts of hype and advertising, will likely be exceedingly popular. This all sounds very much like Apple's recipe for success!

Yea it's turning into a joke, I need a new phone, and I've got half a mind to just say "**** it" and get a HTC One X.

that is one thing im starting to not like about samsung.. yes the s2 was successful but you dont need to milk it this bad to get s3 successful.. its funny when people wait all night for some count down.. i would not be surprised if they were waiting in front of the shop to get the s3 first.. like the apple fan boys do :o

This is the inevitable consequence of having a very popular product. I suspect many Android fans only cheer Samsung as the main proponent of the "underdog" OS, but are probably now quickly realising that Android has turned into or is turning into the very thing they claim to despise (I.e, a hype and marketing driven popularity contest). These people will need to find a new underdog to cheer on (although id rather see this grotesque practice end myself).

Its not out until 3rd May - knowing details before that wont change a thing.

Aedus - this isnt directly at you:

Seriously why do people get worked up for ridiculous non reasons, demanding details. Poor geeky, middle class people.

The reason it's annoying me personally is because I need a new phone, I'm not like these guys who have a working Nexus or SGS2 and I'm looking to get the next big thing because it benches faster, mine is an iPhone 3G which is basically dying on me (The battery won't hold charge for more than an hour or 2) and I desperately need a new 1. I don't want to buy now because either the HTC One X will drop in price or the SGS3 will be superior to it and I want a phone which will last me a few years again. The more time Samsung pulls these stunts the longer I am stuck not knowing what to do. If they released the specs even, I'd know "Yea, I'll defo get that then" or "Nah it's not much better, I'll go for the HTC One X tomorrow", not like now, not knowing what to get, whether to wait, whether to just buy or whether the wait will be a waste of time without a working mobile.

Only if they ruin the OS so that we can't do any customizing to the phone like you can't with the iPhone

Which is precisely my approach, only my device of choice is an iPhone. Sadly, there are all too many people who are prepared to base their purchasing decisions on the basis of how popular (or not) a product is.

to those who think it's silly to call people who buy popular devices as sheep i think have missed the point. i initially thought the same and was like well surely when the s3 becomes more popular everyone then is sheep, but i think what samsung are trying to say is with apple customers they're just buying the phone because everyone else does, not knowing why to buy the phone and not having a good reason to get it over say the s2, as the s2 is better, cheaper, can do more etc, so now with the s3 they'e saying don't blindly follow everyone, open your eyes, see the specs etc and then chose the best, even if everyone else is doing it at least you're not just blindly buying a phone.
