For people who have pre-ordered the game: is there any way to download the client in advance? I'm worried that it's going to get to late this week and a public download link will go up... and be incredibly slow.

That will be the actual client, the full game is 25 Gb. Which is probably also why they arent selling it on disks to reduce their costs. Once its downloaded though, GW only requires bat file and content updates to be applied to your installation, you install once and its super fast downloading and updates with no server downtime after that.

They're the cheapest but for a first time buyer they wont be the quickest. You'll need to send them a pic of a utility bill, then wait around 24 hours for them to confirm it.... Then once they've confirmed you can download the key.. HOWEVER: If they dont have any keys in stock you'll have to wait for one to come in, which can take upto 24 hours!!
Just go to greenmangaming and use quidco to get an extra 8% cashback

its the earlier closed beta download client. The same client will be used for the open beta and final game, so you can start downloading it now.
Wait ... what directory does it download too ... I cant select or find it and theres only 6 Gb on my C drive!
