Inbetween 2nd and 3rd got into an accident - bike totaled. That wouldn't be the problem, only my insurance had lapsed (5 days) even though price and DD had already been arranged for my new policy...they decided, without telling me, not to cover me... (might want to add i was with them for 3 years prior...no longer with them :L)

So i got a nice IN10 £150 fine and 6 points. Take that on the chin...fair enough, pay off what i owed on the bike..and a year later got a different style of bike (regret it) nice and cheap (3500) and start again.
I'll be going back to cruisers soon though, more my riding style.

When i first bought the bike i was intending to get all those, but, due to the fact i just don't enjoy riding it (i do...but in comparison to my last...not at all) never got round to it.
 
As I suggested, I did indeed visit the local Triumph dealer today.

The Daytona is a lovely looking bike. I expected it to be really small but it actually felt very nice. I had to drive there unfortunately so couldn't test ride it but it looks like I'll be doing that next weekend.

In some ways I was hoping that I'd hate it so that it would narrow the options a bit, but it's such a beautiful bike. The build quality looks pretty decent as well.

It's not actually new, it's a 2011 model that's only done 1300 miles. It's depreciated about £1 for each mile it's done. I'm also part exchanging my Suzuki so it's quite reasonable really.

Not many extras really - it does have a quickshifter but I've asked them to take it off because it really hurts the insurance and I've no real need for it. That'll probably go on a well-known auction site later on.

I had a test ride of a 675R earlier today and it was fantastic fun. The biggest step I found in going to a sportsbike was the riding position. Once you get used to the riding position then you quickly get comfortable with the bike. The engine is brilliant! As it's a triple you get a bit more torque than a four and the noise is fantastic :)

Fair one. Sounds like a good deal you're getting either way.

How much is the quick shifter adding to your premium? I'm dreading my insurance policy after I get the S1000RR and when I eventually bring it back to the UK. That said, when I first got my GSX-R 750, that was about £1200/year for the first year heh.

I do love the riding position of sports bikes as well. It's something I didn't think I'd like back when I was riding my Bandit. But after a while on the GSX-R, I ended up preferring that position.
I've yet to ride a triple, or even a twin, only done inline 4's. Shameful I know lol.

Fireskull what is your opinion on the 750 ? and which model did you have.

The 1000 k5 seems like the most rated at the moment.

Hi mate, I had the k4/5 750, amazing bike, I don't like most of the magazine stereotypes but it really is the perfect sportsbike for the road the 750!
It's as nimble as the 600's but with the extra engine power that you don't need to be revving out all the gears like the 600's, with the exception of the 675 Daytona, loved riding that but its far too small unless you are a jockey :p
The only reason I didn't get another 750 is because I am being a big girl and don't think getting another 750 again would feel the same as my old one, I spent so much time effort and money on that thing it was completely tailored to me, and I think it would feel like a ghost haunting me :p
So for the money I decided I would get a K5 1000 the next best thing in the line of GSXR Legends, Amazing bike, dont think I have even used 15% of its potential yet but I need to get her on track for that and some dry days.
I do notice the extra weight of the 1000 over my old 750 but then again this has stock suspension and its all wrong for my weight so I cant really complain about the handling until I have had it tailored to me!
First gear is a nightmare at the moment, it does not like going slowly at all, but I think that's because the previous owner removed the SET Valve but kept the mechanism on there so it messes with the ECU, so need to pull a pin on the ECU to disable that and also get a custom map done for this PC3 and change the sprockets, going to go -1 on the front sprocket, hopefully that lot will make 1st gear more usable.

There is nothing like winding back second gear on this bike though :D
(And Second gear because first gear just wants to throw you off the back!)

Thanks for the mini review I was looking at a 750 k7 had a quick look at one today man it seems so small but a very good looking bike, a lot of bike in return for your money.
