UEFA Champions League/Europa League 24/25/26 April *** Spoilers ***

Sad day for football and the champions league IMO. Now the final will be 1 team attacking and one playing the 5-5-0 formation like they did for 180+ minutes.
4 shots on goal in 180 minutes and everyone is saying they deserve to go though lol. 1 shot on target every 45 min sounds like a team that deserves to play in the champions league final.

Also how wasnt Torres goal ruled offside?

I'm not sure any of your argument holds any water based on the question you ask at the end but I'll bite :p

No doubt, Chelsea were outfootballed but they would have been if they had tried to play football anyway, the difference is they would have stood even less chance of getting through, on paper Chelsea should have not 'won' the two matches but winners and determined individuals will play the way they need to achieve the outcome, as long as it is within the rules I see no issue with it. Barcelona played with virtually 0 defenders, allowing them to be entrenched in Chelsea's half, do we castigate this 'against the grain' approach too? In the end, they were punished for it.
More fool to Barca too, who refused to budge from their 'walk it into the net' approach.

In what shape was that edge of the seat action? Chelsea hardly came out to play football. edge of the seat action is both teams attacking end to end stuff, not parking a bus and then camping for 170 minutes out of 180.

I wonder what you would have said if Barca played in exactly the same fashion as chelsea over the 180 minutes. We would have watched the worse semi final ever in any competition if that would have happened.

 to be blunt; the same.

Both games were exciting, the drama, torres scoring finally, Messi missing a penalty, chelsea snatching a goal at the bridge, the tackles, the send offs, the underdogs actually doing the unimaginable. Classic game written all over it, the majority of people debating that are Barcelona fans. I am not a Chelsea fan.

Nope, but I gotta say the offside rule in this case doesn't make any sense. Why on earth would it matter if it is in your own half, he is still past the last defender by half a mile and can easily run to the goal and score lol.

Haahahahahahaaaaaaa

Hahahahahaa

Hahaha

Ha

You for real?

That last sentence shows that you don't know what you're talking about. You can't be offside in your own half.

LOL! You're clueless!

The reason the game was exiting was become barca attacked and scored. If they played the chelsea way from he start there would have been no goals etc. You would have watched two team sit in defence and wait for penalties.

LOL! You're clueless!

How am I clueless? Because I didn't know a stupid rule of the game that you never get to see. Please count me the number of games you have seen where this comes into an effect.

I don't think anyone is calling you clueless for not knowing the rule. It's you calling the rule stupid, imagine if it wasn't there it would be stupid, beyond stupid in fact you would just end up with obscenely high defensive lines then teams hoofing it forward for a foot race between striker and defender every time.

It would never work.

You just answered your own question, it would work.

I've seen it plenty of times, plenty of games I've played in myself from junior football up until now (although I've recently stopped playing 11-a-side Saturday football in favour of 5-a-side), and a fair few times in professional matches as well.

The offside rule is quite an important one.

I take away my kindness, you are clearly clueless

You should kids 7 a side if you want rules like that lol.

I think, you're the one being clueless. If you really think that because of that, every team would just camp in the opponents penalty box, then you're crazy. Nobody would play like that, because the game would simply be too stretched and too dangerous to play like that.

Are you trolling?

Your definition of football is a long ball up the pitch, with two players just having a sprint race?

And this would continue for 90 minutes?

Well you said you enjoyed this semi final. Wasn't that exactly what chelsea tactics were?

Every goal they scored was a long ball up the pitch and then followed by a sprint.

Sounds perfect, every match would be a clasic then ;)

Well you can dress up your argument how you like, but the entirety of the football ruling body disagrees with you, as does everyone on this forum thus far. I think that speaks volumes about the validity of being offside in your own half.
