Some $ prices have appeared on slides and one or two UK prices popped up on google. From these I get a reasonable UK estimate from 0.8 x $ which means about £170 for the i5 and £250 for the i7. The upper limit for early birds will be £190 and £290 I think.Does anyone actually know a general price range the new ib 1155 i7 will retail near ? really want rid of this 2300 i5 lol
No business does thatOCUk Sell a lot of things below what they buy them for.
*********** or anywhere else for that matter are not ALLOWED to put the for pre-order. They aren't ALLOWED to ship or put them on the website until after the agreement with Intel is up on Sunday. I'm sure this isn't ideal for Overclockers either.
For the Z77 launch - one retailer blinked at COB Friday and others quickly chased. They can always plead to Intel they werent the one to break embargo and need to compete.didn't with a recent gpu launch one retailer launch pre-orders early - and all other retailers followed suit ?
thats not good
why would Intel choose a Sunday for release day ?

Woop-de-do now you actually lost a sale instead of gaining one with a 10% discount!

We are not stupid and the current SB prices are there for all to see. An internet search takes seconds - retailers will be sweating and cannot afford to overprice. We can afford to wait it out.

Maybe that is to allow people to order on the sunday and put up prices on websites and whatever to entice people to order or go out to purchase on the Monday?
My theory:
New motherboards- To help to shift remaining stock of 2nd gen CPU's
Lifting NDA a week before- to encourage people to buy them provided results are good (which i will add, that im fairly impressed)
Purchase on a sunday- As before
I heard from a good source that OcUK have had stock of the chips for weeks. At least 2 if not more. I don't think stock is the issue![]()
This isnt tins of beans on special offer, these are £200 items sold at precise but positive margin. You wont stay in business selling your mainline items at a loss.Yes they do, it's a business practice known as a loss leader. Selling products below the cost of acquiring them in order to stimulate the sale of other, more profitable products.

DRAM is £5 a GB but CPUs are upto £400? Some loss!
Each of us know the price of each item on our shopping list to the pound on half a dozen retailers. It's a buyers market.Go check the prices on a few of the GPU's/CPU's/Motherboards that OCUk sell with the prices of competitors, just with free postage it makes OCUk undersell themselves....
