Hope ive got the right bit of the forums :P
my hard drive has been making a strange 'coming and going' vibrating noise, i know its the hard drive since i can grab hold of it to make it stable and the noise stops.
I was thinking of something like this, especially since i kinda need some more anyway.
can anyone give me some advice on whether that would be any good or if there is a better option for me
all help appreciated :) thanks :D

This is the right place :)

You probably want to remove that competitor link before a mod sees though ;)

I'd probably just find something around to stop the vibrations, a little something between the hard drive and the cage should work without the need to buy anything.

is it an old drive? They do seem to get louder with age.

You could try the anti vibration thing but you might want to look into getting a new drive (if you wanted to splash out for one)

its like 6 months old, barely used tho, i think its cause ithe adapter wont let me screw it in properly
and didnt know bout the links :( ive seen others do it

Just link to a neutral manufactures website and you'll be fine :)

As you found out when you put your hand on the drive and the noise stopped.... it's just resonation. Vibration amplified by the case. Some simple, cheap rubber grommets on your mounting screws will kill the vibration.

@beejjacobs its an iCute S901‑4GA it seems

@Essexraptor i think the problem lies with the hard drive mounts that came with the case, the holes are naffed :/ i cant screw anything in properly, hence why i was wondering about some anti-vibration mounts. ive heard some bad things about the solid rubber ones, saying theyre too hard and just make matters worse and was hoping someone who has experience with some different types could shed a bit of light on it, point me in the right direction

yup, thats the one, plenty of room in it, thats not the problem...the 5.25" to 3.5" adapter wont hold screws properly, so i just need some replacement ones
altho i might look into getting some good quality bungee cord from somewhere

thanks :D
