GSC Closed - STALKER 2 Cancelled

I actually think that if the online shooter is half as good as they intend it to be, then like Stalker, for all its flaws, it could be very good. I think you need to forget the name 'Stalker', and consider that the people that helped make the game what it is, is the most important element. They have the backing of an investor, so at least for the moment I like to think of it more as a positive transformation, rather than a negative turn for the worst.

Ultimately, a new title that appealed to the fans of the Stalker titles would materialize eventually from somewhere. Perhaps that will be this title. They know what has made it sell, and can relate first hand to the audience, such as (hopefully) providing the art direction that has made Stalker so popular. Also, the fact that they seem particularly committed to giving us updates and asking for feedback, nothing new I know, nevertheless gives me confidence.

Nothing lasts forever.

Good point but I think it'll end up like all the other F2P games out there. People will flock to it at the start then eventually become bored and it'll die a slow, painful death. Basically the mod Lost Alpha is S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 now in my eyes now.

You never played the stalker multiplayer did you?

the Stalkers are excellent games but remove the exploration/atmosphere just leave the shooter and they're very poor, it's why the endings were always **** they took a great game with mechanics that worked for the majority of the game then forced it to be a COD style linear shooter and it just doesn't work.
 
It's not a question of cash Mark, its the guy who founded GSC and ultimately owns the rights to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R name, he just won't let anyone else use it.

Correct, I didn't, but I have seen enough game play of it to understand the point you are making; regardless, gamers would know what you mean even without any media, as I'm sure you will appreciate. Many observations have been made by the fans with regard to the problems of mp, and I'm sure the developer is well aware of these as well. I would prefer a single player focus, though whatever they come up with, it should and likely will to be fair, incorporate some of the elements that made it great in the first place. Time will tell.

Personally, I quite enjoyed the endings in SOC and COP, though I sympathize more with you when considering the ending for CS (actually, I was even more miffed with the last level than the ending itself).

I've been trying to look into this more but can't find anything, anyone got any info? Is it a question of him being stubborn or something else?

The Official STALKER facebook page said as much yesterday, when the dev interview for Vostok Games was released. I assume it was being used as an outlet to let the wider public know about Vostok, as there were quite a few posts relating to it.
 
I don't have any hope at all for a MMO, especially a free to play one. For me Stalker is a single player game and adding other people to the mix would totally ruin it. I can just imagine exploring then constantly getting sniped by some 12yo kid. I wont even bother to download it :(

I think adding a coop element is as far as I would like it to go in terms of multiplayer. It would have actually been pretty cool to play Stalker with one friend who is also into the game.

I agree, co-op would be really fun I think, but multiplayer = never.
 
I think we should all leave a comment on their video diarys saying we don't like the idea. They say it is extremely important to have our support and ideas, so maybe they will listen and realise its a bad idea.
 
This was THE only game I was really, really looking forward to. and online game, not me. thats not what S.T.A.L.K.E.R was about.

GSC, you will be greatly missed. but i will never grow tired of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and its two sequels.
 
Oh sweet.I'll have to work out how to use a translate app later. Whats the TLDR version? Any hope of this actually being released or are these just what someone found?
