***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

A week to go then?

I'll probably pick one up on release day if it's as good as I'm hoping it will be. Still using my original Galaxy S, so should be a nice upgrade!

I know the hardware will be good - it's the design I'm really looking forward too.

It's the design I'm fearing tbh. gs2 has served me well for the last year but it's too damn square. Give me curves dammit! (though at least it doesn't have the ergonomics of an iphone 4)

All rumours and leaks show it will have rounded edges - this image mrk posted isn't far off I think:

Same! However, if the the mobile was truly outstanding (not just a quad core, great screen etc.), as in it had something truly special and unique then I wouldn't mind, but if it is just going to be upgraded specs essentially (which by the sounds/looks etc. it is :p) then no thanks!

But if Samsung do stick to their word where they have a very thin bezel around the main screen then it won't be much bigger if any bigger at all compared to the GS 2 and GN, one S.

tell me why phones are getting bigger ? what does it do that my gs2 didnt do ? etc etc

I guess it depends if the increase screen size means an increase in phone size. They could have the same size phone but with a bigger screen.

It's also possible that the screen is extended to accommodate on screen buttons to replace the hardware buttons like on the Galaxy Nexus.

4.7 is pushing the boundaries - I know I'd want to atleast try one for a year.

I don't see the issue with a 4.7" screen, the S2 wasn't hardly small at 4.2". I actually find my Nexus 4.65" a bit too small. and was hoping the SIII would be 4.8".

I think people are still thinking of this as a phone (calls & sms). Where as now people consume a lot of media on their devices. For a commuter like myself big screens are useful (ebooks, comics, internet). But I can understand people whom use their people less and would like a more compact device, which looks like this isn't for them.

Big screen + slim shell = awesome. Easily pocket-able, light enough to be unseen and no bulge in a shirt or jacket pocket.

I use my one S for a lot of games, browsing, videos etc. more so than the social part of the phone and I still wouldn't want a device any bigger than the Galaxy nexus max (unless as said, the device had something unique to it :p)

i wont rush to buy it tho as much i want it :S ill give it time to drop a bit in price or save up some extra cash ditch my trusty s2 and get s3..

4.3" just isn't big enough to comfortably read a whole comic page (edit, without zooming in!). I've tried with multiple sources.

I read in landscape mode, was fine for a year on the S2, just so much nicer on my Tab, but having to swap black blacks for greyish blacks sucks.

My video and comic things is done 99% of the time when commuting to and from work, so I will always have my tab. Only if I go out clubbing or something I wouldn't have my tab, so the S2 would be fine in those situations.

Arg, what to do! If only I could find the 7.7 for £350...

I can't wait to do a mini review of this handset. I get to unbox new phones as soon as they get delivered to my store and a little while to play with them before I install them on display.

Going to try and buy this outright with my staff discount for my brother as his upgrade is due July.
