This just happened on the way home from work.

I had anticipated one of the cars either side of me to be in the wrong lane, but I hadn't expected the one that was to actually stop on a green light!

I was looking at the traffic to my left as I've had people cut me up from there and then looking at traffic coming onto the roundabout from the left - in particular lane 3 as there were some cars still travelling towards the lights hence my seemingly slow reaction.

See vid:

On a side note, the camera is a bit shaky even though I've got the hinges nice and tight. It's stuck onto the top of the windscreen level with the rear view mirror and to the left a bit with the suction pad. Do you think moving it lower would help?

[Edit] Lower, i.e. right above the dash.

Wow took me 2 watches to get what happened there lol... at first I thought you were just slow reacting.

Pretty bad driving on the part of the blue car.

I can see what they did, obviously tried to pull away before you did to get into your lane.

Looked at the lights when they pulled away but as they were checking their mirror for you, they missed the fact the lights had just changed and presumed they were still red.

Well stopped.

Her number plate summed her up nicely as did my swearing but I thought I best leave that out.

That's what I thought, but when I stopped I noticed she was looking down and to her left as if she was looking in a bag or texting or something. Who knows.

She didn't even acknowledge me, just looked up and right to the lights then pulled off sharpish.

If I had hit her, which would have caused relatively minor damage I would have took my chances and showed her the video and hope that she settled outside of insurance.

P.S. I am fully insured by the way.

Expect the unexpected, but it's quite hard to be on the ball 100% of the time.

What if I had actually gone into her?

Even with the video you'd have been hard pressed for it not to be your fault - you'd have hit her. The video doesnt show if she stopped for an obstruction (I doubt she did, but there isnt any proof).

If I submitted the video to insurance company and had witness to say that there was no reason for her to stop, or that they saw her on her phone or whatever, would that help?

I thought straight away at the time, this is going to be my fault in the eyes of the insurer and probably some people on the internet (not that I instantly thought I would upload it to YouTube but you know what I mean) but I feel she would be to blame as well which makes me sound like I don't take responsibility for my actions.

So glad I stopped in time though as I want to get rid of the car at the weekend lol

She could have broken down, or passed out. I don't think you'd get out of it really, you're pretty much responsible, more so if she's coming to a stop a good 20-30m away.

I can't be certain due to not actually being there but it really does look like a case of slow reactions, even if it was a green light the car was slowing/brake lights on and it seems you carried on.

I could be wrong.

it would be your fault because they could be slamming their brakes on for an obstruction infront, just because lights are green doesnt mean you can presume all traffic infront will continue through. Obviously this isnt what happened here but pretty sure it would be something along those lines.
