My first ever SSD

I'm hopefully picking up a Crucial 128Gb SSD up from OCUK today, my initial intention is to continue using Win XP Pro 32bit, on a Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 mobo. Would I be able and is it worthwhile using Acronis to image my current Hd and restore this including the OS to the SDD, or would a complete new re-install be the better option? Any tips / advice would be more than welcome.

Thanks & cheers hondo :)

would do a complete re-install proberly. disconnect the HDD before u install on SSD then delete of HDD.

worth a try tho

would do a complete re-install properly.

Sorry to hijack here but I'm about to get an SSD myself today. I have my system setup just the way i like it and have an Acronis backup of it.

Is there any real problems with just restoring the image to the new drive? It would take me ages to re-install everything from scratch.

im not to sure. worth a try tho. if it works great u would lose all your stuff of the HDD tho. as all u'd need to delete is the OS software on the HDD.

Also make sure you set the bios start up order to SDD first

The only reason I asked the initial question was because I know for a fact that Crucial sell a SSD Data Transfer Kit for cloning Hdds to SSDs, but I see little point in buying / using one of those if Acronis will do the same job.
