Guild Wars 2

Do people only want posts in here singing the praises of the game and nothing else? That's not going to happen.

It has nothing to do with that, though, does it?

Of course we don't want a Guild Wars 2 circle-jerk. We do want discussion on the various aspects of the game, where it can be improved, if it needs to be, etc.

The problem is one, perhaps two, people harping on about the same single point and then moving on to doom the game because of it.

That's just as bad.

Unfortunately the whole "if you don't like it, go back to playing WoW, kids" is a pathetic attitude being displayed by at least one very vocal (and clueless) person on here.

For someone so desperate for the game to do well, insulting everyone being critical of it is very bizarre and strange. Especially when all of the criticism is fair.

And theres only one or two people (I.E you an Inkursion), constantly babbling on about how bad the game is compared to WoW.

Its a valid answer - if you prefer WoW, then play it. Stop expecting GW2 to become WoW 2.0 which it never will be.

Its 4 or 5 pages worth of arguing over one single pointless thing which is a lack of skill binding. If thats the only negative that people can possibly come up with them thats pretty darn good to me :D

it means everything else must be perfect for them not to notice any other problems.

6000+ hours of GW1 played, 50/50 HoM, soon to complete Gwamm after the beta and you? The people complaining about the lack of minor features make as much sense as someone who only plays Crysis complaining that Skyrim doesnt have any guns or rifles.

The single point that has been repeated over and over again was already discussed enough times, I even said that I agree that the skill keys need to made remappable. Please tell me what other valid complaints anyone else have made, not that this single complaint is really that big an issue.

I haven't said I prefer WoW. Don't fabricate things.

I'm getting GW2 and I'm seriously hoping it's brilliant. I have no issue if it did turn out to be a WoW killer - not that I care about that or that it's important, as I've said.

I don't want it to seem that I'm being critical, I haven't even played it so I'm not making any judgements yet.

On that point though, I do hope they add at least Shift as a possible modifier. 12345 and Shift + 12345 would be fine. 6-10 are tricky to reach on most keyboards with normal sized hands at least.

Do you find it not to be an issue?

Anyone got a solution to the GEMSTONE issue?

IT would appear that I too have a US key, also bought from CJs Keys
However I have an EU server as "home world" ?

Anyone ???:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Its not an issue. Theres already two solutions:

1) Remap the 6-10 keys to keys closer to WASD and move the menu keys elsewhere (easy to do).

2) Buy a gaming mouse / keyboard as already advised. Heres a good one:

You are only whining over a non issue thing simply because its something that WoW has and GW doesnt. Do you complain much about all the problems that WoW has in the WoW thread?

Its a pretty good game, I'm enjoying it loads.

The difficulty is great fun, but I think the scaling is a bit off though.

I still think it would be better if it was added as a proper solution in settings though, I can't see why they wouldn't allow it?

I think it'll make it to the final game.

I'm not. I just think that logically it's a bizarre omission from a game focused around PvP. It's a simple thing and it will no doubt get it in the end. Suggesting people buy peripherals to fix a small issue is strange really.

Yeah I don't see why they wouldn't add it to the final game, enough people have asked already. :)

Same issue mate :(
Have emailed support and CJs.

Sorry but the people that might actually be able to provide you a proper answer seem to be to busy whining at each other and their denial that the control method preferences
may actually be down to an individuals preferences (:eek: OMFG NO! I AM RIGHT NOT YOU) as well as which in game char they'd prefer to blow.

I can't even get the free gems, I put in my address etc, click next and it does nothing. Not a big deal as it's only to see what it's like, I just hope it works at release.

The CJS Keys problem has been answered a few times in the last couple of pages, they are going to give out the correct keys but how and when we don't know.

I had this problem however it decided to work today, just give it a minute, if it doesn't work for a while, try later.

No doubt it is something that will be added in the final game but you're suggesting he should buy a new keyboard over a very basic missing features 0.o?

It is an issue, it will 99% be fixed for the final game, but shift modifiers are pretty damn important.

Once again for the people that don't seem to be able to read:

The modifier keys were done to death in the alpha and closed beta - some for some against - I personally find it a worse way to play but I use a G13 anyway. But did try using the keyboard because that is what they asked us to do.

We then rated what we found and they looked at speed of progression, DPS, death rates etc when people were using modifiers and not. The metrics and peoples experience showed that people who were using modifiers were not reacting as fast - and in this game if you don't move you die in exploration etc - so they took them out.

Now as to whether this is a permanent change or whether they are just seeing how people cope in relation to not having them and the amount of comments they get is probably the most likely thing going on. They are testing what they have decided (but not in stone). It's a beta. You aren't playing everything that will be in the final product are you ... and again judging by the reaction here they will probably reverse that decision again if people are actually letting them know and filling in the comments and not just moaning here.

Likewise the FOV has been better before but with all the effects going on it was causing people problems (especially with lowerend systems) with the amount of extra stuff to render. So that was also made. Again they are just looking most likely at how things are reacted to.

It's a beta. Nothing atm is really set in stone etc. You have to accept those things along with the fact an MMO is an evolutionary product.

Add comments let Arenanet know what you do and don't like - that's our job. To inform and help them. If you don't like my opinion that's fine I really don't give a flying **** but it aint me you need to be telling it's Arenanet.

But you can hardly call me a fanboi for stating the obvious when I have quite openly being critical of various things in this game (Of which I let them know) have openly said another forthcoming game is a lot better and have openly said I didn't like GW1 at all.

Source on this? Because I know I can play a lot faster with shift commands and better.

It was discussed in the closed beta. And yes I would normally and did with SWTOR but this game requires less keys so I guess that is where the difference is. Try the setup I detailed earlier it works well and requires no modifiers. May work for you may not. Like I say though let them know not me!

What set up did you detail earlier :p?

Also I know exactly how I want to play before i went in anyway.

I.e. Ele the best way to set up for me will easily be skill 1-10 on 1-5+shift. Then switching between elements Q,E,R,F. F1 etc is just hassle

I play Elementalist too (just to OP at WvWvW can't refuse all the AOE)

Forward, left, right, back etc = rdfg
Weapon 543 = qwe
Weapon 21 = as
Utility = tyu
Elite = j
Heal = h
Class specific = cvbn
Interact = x
Jump = Space

My wife also uses this configuration if I have the G13 but she swaps the 5 x Weapons buttons and the Utility+Elite+Heal ones around as she finds it easier to use the commonly pressed one with the index finger

The beauty is all you need is only a 2 button distance from the starting position.
