Guild Wars 2

Oh and the fighting 6 centaurs... whats the point in having a big AOE weapon if you shy away from opportunities to use it.. 6 centaurs is fun to attack but risky. I usually win because they are team events so i can rely on others to back me up.

There does seem to be a lot of anger/stress over a BETA event. There are definately some issues but it seems ANET are pretty good at listening to the community and sorting stuff out. I don't see GW2 being release for a few months yet, which gives plenty of time to take feedback from the community and make changes.

The time to start getting frustrated is when they release the game without listening to the community!

I can't quite get my head around the must-melee issue - almost all classes have a ranged option for when running in with a sword isn't a good idea.

Let's face it, in general if you come across a giant spiked monstrosity that's killing everything in range, shouldn't you be delighted you have the option of pulling out a rifle instead of having no choice but to charge in?

People are still thinking "I'm a melee tank" rather than "I'm a warrior"

I'm very comfortably more than zoomed out in this video and have a huge FOV, are other people playing this game on 1024x768 monitors or something

A female Human character (could be on the smallest size setting during setup) vs a Charr on the largest is going to look totally different in FOV.

It's certainly more restricted on the bigger character sizes & add in the confined caves & spaces some fights take place, you can be looking at the back of your characters head most of the time.

Well CJS keys will not accept that the key they provided is wrong. Trying to fight for a refund. I have now opened up a dispute case in paypal.

I took it up with them & said that NCSoft pretty much disagree with most of what they are saying.

So I pointed them to a discussion thread on the GW2 forums that a few people are concerned they have had access to the beta but are in the wrong region.

NCSoft said that if that happens then it's the suppliers fault, not NCSoft as they've not supplied the wrong region keys to the wrong regions.

CJS have now said they have only supplied EU keys, but I sent in a support ticket to get them to check.

How did you manage to turn this

Sorry, that was due to reading similar complaints in the link that inkursion posted:

https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/for...utely-no-point-to-melee-against-bosses/page/2

boss combat? a warrior or guardian cant even hold 5 mobs at time lol

How do I know when to dogde, or when to activate blocking skills?

It was my honest opinion on why a lot of players (not you personally) are failing at melee, because they arent playing right.

Also, regarding melee vs ranged players in a real boss fight, this analysis of actual in game footage might be helpful:

Heres a very honest thread on the issue of complaints:

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/34010-so-much-negativity/

I'm betting most complainers are WoW players playing this game for the first time and whining that this game isn't WoW. It's quite a shock i'm sure.

It's human nature, especially with the anonymity of the internet, to complain about every tiny little thing. People have nothing better to do with their lives than that, unfortunately.

And quite honestly, everyone you see complaining on that forum actually did come from WoW.

I have been unable to login allday today sent in a support ticket but their solution didnt help. It is not looking good for me to get into todays final event.

I thought it finished at Monday on 8am? Surely not still going?

I think the whole GW2 Guru fanboy forum complaining that the critics are just "WoW idiots" is a very convenient and immature response to criticism, to be honest. Also giving a graphical analysis of arguably the largest-scale and most spaced out boss encounter in the whole Beta (the swamp monster) is hardly fair and impartial. Do a graphical analysis of the average large group fight in a centaur camp or on a more clustered fight, or perhaps in a bandit cave (you know, being truthful to yourself, that the swamp monster encounter is not representative of diddly) and then tell me that melee has all that screen real-estate to look at. It is incredibly compact. The camera zoom and FOV are currently pitiful - with zero room for customisation. This is not what you expect from a current-gen game in 2012.

The point of playing a melee class is to play a melee class. War / Guardians are predominetly melee. You want to go in and smash things up.

No no, Guild Wars is doing away with 'traditional' MMO stuffiness - all that melee! Pooh pooh! Now all classes get guns and they can stand way back in a wide-arc and shoot things. Much more dynamic and fun, don'tcha know!

You always get people who never quite grasp what a beta is and get their panties in a knot over what is a test.

From my POV I thought for a first big weekend beta test it went pretty well.

Personally I still think this is a bit of a mistake ..but hey thats my preference. (and yes I know your comment is tongue in cheek ..or at least I hope so :D)

I play WoW and I played and liked GW2... so does this disqualify me from being able to tell anyone what I thought GW2 didn't do so well on, or even worse yet, what I think WoW does better?
