Hollister what the..?

- They seem to have a "no uglies" recruitment policy

Fairly sure they got sued for sacking some bird who only had one arm.

Never been in the place but heard about it from colleagues, supposed to be really dark, sounds like a load of **** to me and probably £50+ for a t-shirt.

Don't like the clothes or atmosphere (and some of the pretty people who work there aren't shallow, honest). However I always find it funny when someone who overestimates how good looking they are applies for a job and ends up working back of store at weird hours. So there's that.

When I see brand names on clothes I think the person wearing them is an idiot. I stopped wearing whatever the cool brand was at the period when I was at school 20 years ago. I can understand children doing it, peer pressure and the desire to conform can be intense, but adults in branded gear are fools. Regardless if it's A&F, Apple or whomever. Some designer watches and jewellery are really just shoving wealth in other people's faces with no regard for taste.

That's a bit harsh.....some brands are simpy better quality and generic goods with no branding at all are generally pretty cheap rubbish.

Are you seriously saying that you think everyone who wears a pair of Nike trainers, uses an ipod, has a pair of designer specs or wears a polo shirt with a brand name is an idiot?

Given that the vast majority of items people wear have a brandname of one form or another you must think everyone a fool......

Are you turning into Bhavv by any chance?

I think A&F T-shirts are of relatively exceptional quality (compared to H&M, GAP, Top Man, Hugo Boss and so on) - decent sueded cotton. They are only worth purchasing from the US, though, where I pay about £15-20, or something.

The only downside is the brand plastering.

Living in Hamilton must upset you deeply then. It's chav brand central.

Personally i don't mind brands putting their logos on the clothing as long as it is small. If the quality is good and I like the colour, cut and design then i would consider it depending on the price.

However, I simply cannot see what on earth is going on in that shop! I can't tell if the colour is correct from those nasty spot lights. I can't see all the clothing on offer. Those damn loud music don't help either.

The place is so dark, i managed to miss the stairs in the birmingham store the first 3 times I went there, i just did not see the turning, i thought it was just a weird landing in the middle of the store.

^ I was treating the GF to some clothes at Christmas, one of which was a pair of their sexy skin tight jeans. As she was in the fitting room I was sent out to rummage around for a smaller size - shouted over one of the girls who found it impossible to see the sizing aswell however she then randomly pulls a colourful chart out of the wall detailing the location of every jean size

So yeah, look for this magical, mysterious chart in the wall whenever you go! It might be hiding under some clothes!

Have some tic tacs ready for the 'models' that have to serve you. I've no idea what they feed them in there!

The shops always smell funny too. You can smell the one in Milton Keynes from quite a distance, and it's in the part of the centre which is open to the atmosphere!

Just to further my point earlier in this thread.

You don't go into the truly exclusive stores (LV,Dior,Burberry,Hermes,Armani,Gucci) and see them absolutely dark like a cave. They're all so bright you wonder if you're going to go blind. XD

Dunno why people rip on A&F or call it a chav brand, its good quality feeling clothing with heritage, lasted me more years then most of my other stuff. Don't really care for the image or branding as such. I only buy the items with the small logo, hate big writing. If I could buy it without the logo I would. Superdry on the other hand is lame imo. Was going to buy the windcheater jacket before every boy and his uncle had one but the tacky zips and sleeve inserts put me off for good.Makes me cringe when I see someone with it on

Usually the same as their fragrance to get people to buy it I suppose

Agree that adults and big branding don't mix. Nothing wrong with small branding though

Hollister shops are also not well lit in the US either.

American Eagle for me. (depending on whether or not I like their current styles)

I also hadn't realised SuperDry was a UK company. The quality of the clothing is good however, although I'm not paying £75+ for a pair of jeans. Normally do my shopping in the states now.

One opened near me last year and I genuinely thought it was a restaurant until I walked up to it to look for a menu. I had fits of laughter when I realised it was actually meant to be a clothes shop. I've never been in there as it just looks far too pretentious. But being 42 and the sort of person that tries to avoid clothes with brand names stuck all over them I guess I'm not really their target audience. One day I might walk in there with a maglight for the lulz though.

Becasue it's any easy throw away comment to make. Take a brand, throw other brands from the highstreet into the mix that you have never even tried on and pretend that they are not of even decent quality because can of course get the same quality from Primark. It's the cool thing to do.

What is people's benchmark brand that they are comparing to? I have shirts from Superdry, I have shirts from H & M - there is an obvious difference in quality and fit.
