The Offspring have just completed their new album! Cannot wait, love these guys:cool:

Song titles floating about at the moment are:-

Hurting As One
OC Guns
You Will Find A Way
Days Go By
It's All Good
The Future Is Now

Awaiting the full track listing release, abum name, artwork etc! I loved Rise and Fall Rage and Grace, some amazing songs on that album, lets hope this is just as good, if not better!

Noodles said that "Hurting As One" sounds like "Something To Believe In" off of Smash :D

It must suck to see your contemporaries still being vaguely relevant while you struggle to be anything other than another past it pop punk band.

And I say this as someone whose first record he ever bought was Americana.

Let's hope this stuff is marginally better than everything else they've thrown out in the past decade.

:eek::(

Offspring used to be my favourite band, but I've kind of gone off them a bit. I hope this album is better than 'rise and fall, rage and grace'...there were a couple of awesome songs on that album but it just felt like they had gone so damn soft. They should not do ballads EVER....they just cant pull it off.

NoFx....now there's a consistent band!

Finally some concrete news! :)

If they can find their form again, then I will probably give this a listen. Really haven't paid them any attention whatsoever since Americana was realesed. That said, Ixnay and everything before that is excellent.

Offspring lol, reminds me of 1998 lol, when I first listened to them, I do like their older stuff, pre-Americana, not a massive fan of Splinter-onwards.

Just seems like skater-punk, and isn't Dexter like 50 now?

Admittely the put on a good live show, but I'm 24 now, I used to listen to Offspring when I was at school lol

I grew up listening to the Offspring, and still have a soft spot for them.

The later albums have been different, but not necessarily bad albums. Regardless of what everyone wants, they will never release another Smash, or Ignition, and That doesn't bother me really.

It's interesting to see Dirty Magic in that track list, and I wonder if they have re-recorded the original, or wrote a new song with the same title.

Anyways, I look forward to the release :)

I think they must have re-recorded the original. Ignition is 20 years old this year and they're doing a club tour to celebrate where they'll just be playing Ignition in its entirety plus a handful of other songs.

I imagine the re-recording will be an acoustic version similar to this:

Dude - your first experience of The Offspring was Americana? And you post this? ;)

Since 'Smash', The Offspring have been losing their edge - Ixnay was very commercial but still had drive, whereas Americana, etc. was fun only from a commercial persective.

Unfortunately, the links above do not encourage me that they are rediscovering what made them good/interesting/relevant, and just sound like any of the other commercial crud out there. Maybe the rest of the album will be more interesting.

My first album may have been Americana but it's certainly not their best album. It's always been about Smash.

Americana may hold a special place in my heart but I can't possibly proclaim it to be their best work.

Anyway, compared to albums that followed Americana it's still a pretty decent album. Start of a downward spiral? Definitely. But it's not the worst thing they've ever done...

No argument there, although I must say I enjoy Ignition more and more as I got older...
