New Samsung S23A700D 120Hz

Can I ask a question from all of our happy Samsung owners. Well two actually.

Do you get a HDMI cable in the box? AND DL - DVI cable?

Also, just how glossy is the screen? Is it distracting Glossy?

no hdmi cable, yes to dual link dvi cable.at first the screen was distracting for me but i got used to it,i actually like it a lot more than matte,i believe it makes the image quality more shiny & vibrant.also it makes the monitor looks clean i mean like new. :)

Okay, thanks very much as905!

Trying to convince people to supply the extra bit of money! :D

I currently have two monitors, and a 7850 card.

One of them is DVI - DVI and connects via a HDMI adaptor.

The other is VGA (only) and connects to the DVI port via a DVI adaptor.

If I bought this screen, could I connect it as the third monitor using:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-058-HS

I realise I won't get 120hz, But until I can swap the monitors around with one my brother has its the best I can do.

I can confirm that my glasses also say SSG-M3150GB on the box but SSG-3100GB in tiny print on the label on the glasses themselves. Haven't had a chance to set it up yet, hopefully later this evening, or definitely tomorrow.

I am rather surprised myself and others didn't receive a paper receipt, that's unlike OcUk from my previous experiences. So I need to do a webnote asking for my receipt, then take a picture of it and upload it to the samsung VAT back site?

Yes you will have to send it back at your expense and then claim postage back because its an rma.
I sent mine back on monday and recieved new one on thursday and refunded postage a couple of days later:D excellent service.

OcUK arranged for mine to be collected so there was no postage to pay. Just made sure I got a receipt from the pickup driver.

Now received a new monitor (the old monitor was fine but the glasses were smashed) and so far, all is well.

I did buy a 5m dual DVI lead from the rain-forest place but that doesn't work, I can't get 120Hz. Don't know if it's a dodgy cable or the cable is too long to handle the job.

@ Merlin5,

Login to your OcUK account, goto to your orders and screengrab it, that's what I done, uploaded it with the rest of the details and got a confirmation email from Samsung:

Samsung VAT Cashback - Confirmation.

How's gaming performance on your setup?

I logged in and went to my order history. Do you mean screengrab where it says this:

'ORDER NUMBER: xxxxxxxxx

Order Date: 28 Apr, 12, 3:18 pm

Order was shipped to:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Order Status: COMPLETE'
Samsung S23A700D 23" 120Hz 3D Widescreen Gaming Monitor - Black **GET THE VAT BACK**, etc..'

edit: I screengrabbed that and uploaded it and filled the form in. Also have a confirmation email now. "Thank you for submitting your claim for the Samsung VAT Back offer.

Claim Reference: xxxxx

Your online claim is now complete. Please keep this email for future reference.

If you have any queries regarding your claim please check our Terms and Conditions or contact our Promotional Support Department;"

But it asked me for my invoice/receipt number, and the only number I had is the order number. I hope that's ok for them.

Heh, believe it or not, I got it yesterday and haven't had a chance to set it up, I've only got as far as opening the box. Tomorrow I'll be setting it up.

That's what I done and got the same reply, I presume the screengrab along with the order no, and the s/n should be proof enough, read in one of the threads that someone else done it that way.

Remember and tell us how you get on then, I'm very curious how your setup gets on with Tridef, hope it goes smooth for you mate.

Cheers. Will do. I've checked funds today, and am now going to be dropping a few £££ on a whole rig, consisting of i5 sandy or ivy, Z77, and probably the 7850 you mentioned with a view to O/C it to 7950 stock.

Hi Gibbo

Wondering if you can help as I am still having lots of problems getting 3D on all 3 monitors at once.

I purchased 2 of the Startech adapters to go into a Sapphire 7950 as you said that would help getting the 3D in eyefinity
and no matter what the DVI connected monitor will always loose sync with the glasses after about 10 mins or so.

If that doesn't happen it will start suffering from what looks like slowdown or the center screen will start doubling/ghosting badly.
Instead of playing games I'm just sat swapping between different pairs of glasses trying to connect them to all three again

I also constantly get Display Port Error messages which requires either a restart of the monitors or PC.

I've tried everything:
Different orders of connections
Different 3D modes
Setting preferred screen in CCC
Checking 3D on each monitor alone which works fine
Tuning of Wi-Fi on Router.
Different USB ports for adapters
And loads more..

I had help from Tridef and they mentioned having syncing problems and replied

"It works perfectly fine with two monitors but as soon as a third display is added, this display is out of sync.
According to AMD all 3 displays must be connected via DisplayPort to ensure spot on syncing."

How is it possible to get them all on DP as every ATI card I have seen only has two Mini-DP ports.
Would it mean I have to purchase another card AND another Startech adapter?
I did plan on getting another card in the future but I really don't want to have to get another adapter especially after all the Display Port Problems.

I'm not sure this is really a "3D & Eyefinity enabled" monitor as I think it should have DP ports if it was.

And if so I'm not sure it's all worth keeping all 3 which is a shame as when it works its amazing :(

I know you had 3D working on all 3 was that in a game with the Tridef software or just in a movie? Also how where you connecting glasses and monitors?

My full specs are

i7 2600
120Gb M4 ssd
Asus P8H67-M PRO
16gb Corsair Ram
Sapphire HD7950

Hope you can help

Thanks
